My p5 (2015) boy will be doing psle next year. He is in a neighbourhood sch. He been failing his maths since p4. I am at a loss to help him. Teachers in school dont seem to help. We sent him to tuition but that didnt stop his marks falling. We are really worried. This year he failed his science…we are beginning to panic psle is next year. Anyone can recommend a specialist 1to 1 tutor for math science and maybe english. Someone who can build up confidence with good foundation. We are staying in the yew tee area. We would be most grateful for your help. It just so painful to see the boy like this…thx

Hi all,
Chloe here, mum of 3 children. Very into enrichment cos i think our local school not providing creative learning or additional stretching of children potential.
I heard PlayFACTO School has arrived in Singapore. They have been very successful in Korea, Japan in creatively coaching and guiding mathematics and concepts in a fun way. Not sure if any mommies have seen them? My friends in Korea told me they are very very effective and fun to learn too. Children love it. Cant wait to try it out once they come in. Understand from their web that they are beginning in Toa Payoh. Anyone knows about them more details? -
Hi! Just to share my experience, my godson's maths was horrendous! fail every year from p1. Now he is in p5. He has done well in p4! 70ish. Not that great if u compared to like band 1. BUT we are really happy because Less than a year, that we sent him to Kip McGrath BEdok South, he made tremendous improvement!
THANK YOU for helping ZS out wholeheartedly. PM me if any of u need the tutor's number.:) -

… I would like to talk about how I score for math. Overtime we do a mathematical step, I will go and process why we do it and what are we finding when we do it. Most teachers and tutors would tell you to just memorise the solution. This is not effective at all because the question tend to tweak how the phrase it, making it seem exactly different when it really is the same thing. This worked very well for me, though it may or may not work for others. No harm trying anyways.
P.S. I’m a Sec 1 now so I wld know. -
if you guys have FaceBook, you might wanna 'LIKE' this page: http://www.facebook.com/11plusmathstutor/
Basically, it's a free online maths tutor service. You can ask him any maths questions and he will answer them for you. Or you can like the page just to get daily maths solutions to challenging maths questions. Apparently, he's a Singaporean Maths tutor based in the UK. Happened to chance upon this page while researching for free online maths resources. Hope you guys find it helpful. -
Hi, my son is currently in P5 and has always been weak in Maths especially word problems. I engaged a private tutor for him last year and have seen improvement in his P4 SA2 results.
Recently, I realized that his tutor has problem solving questions which are more complicated. Why do I say that? Because those questions that my son asked, she wasn't able to solve or explain them on the spot. At times, she needs to bring the questions home before coming back to my son few lessons later :scared: . Sometimes she even needs to refer to the answer booklet to do explanation to my son.
From what I have found out from my son, this tutor doesn't really know any technique of solving word problems.
I'm thinking of finding a replacement after SA1. Anyone here has any recommendation for Maths private tutor, I'm staying in Woodlands.
Thanks so much.
