Maybe the P1 orientation was held much earlier in Nov, and that’s why they could not confirm the class yet as students may still be transferred in & out of the school, so some students may be reshuffled due to transferring cases. When my boy’s time, his P1 orientation was held in last wk of Dec, so by then, students would be more confirmed & can firm up the class allocation. Not sure why P1 orientation was brought forward to Nov though, maybe some parents have complained orientation too late, can never please everyone…

Hi, can I check if our kid is allowed to bring HP to sch? Or rather are the phones in canteen coin or card phone? This year the P1 orientation was like in a rush n I realised not much info has been passed to us parents… quite disappointing for the orientation n also classes are not confirmed… Seems messy this year

Hi, kids can bring hp but they are only allowed to use it to make calls at the gazebo (ie.. Waiting area near gate). There are coin phones in the school canteen.

I supposed school was caught off guard by PSLE results release on the same day, so the orientation had to cut short. Anyway not to worry, there's usually a briefing on 2nd Sat of Jan morning, make yourself available coming Sat (9th), just in case coming Sat is too rush for them to have the briefing, keep next Sat (16th) morning free as well to play safe. The briefing would provide you with more info & that's when you get to see the child's form teacher & CL teacher too.

The P1 orientation was much earlier on 25th Nov whereas my son's P1 orientation 2 yrs back was on 30th Dec, very very close to school re-opening. When it's so close to school reopen, it's unlikely that there'll be students transferring schools in & out, so probably that's why the classes can be confirmed by then.

For P1, I don't recommend that the child brings HP in case it got lost/misplaced. I had volunteered in school before & I saw P1 kids losing their shoes when going to library, losing library books, etc, so best to avoid bringing valuable stuff to school. If the child is not feeling well, teacher will send the child to GO & GO will contact parent to pick up the child. For recess, there'll be PVs helping out. Any problem, can always tell the teacher, most importantly is to teach the child who to approach for help when they need it & if the school deems it's necessary to contact parent, they will do so.

Separately on student care, any parents here have feedback on the 2 student care centers that are opposite MBS - Bao Ta and Marine Parade MBS? Seems that the latter is 'promoted' by the school given the banner outside the school. Thanks in advance
