For school shoes, must we wear shoes with shoelaces or just Velcro?

Both velcro and shoelaces are acceptable.

Hi my girl is a newly transferred student at P5 level and she has been placed in a mixed ability class, I am wondering if there will be any more more streaming at p5 level?

P5 should be final class. Will not be reshuffling.

P5 and P6 students remain in the same class throughout, to prepare for PSLE.
No more streaming at end of P5, no more re-shuffle.

              St Nick school policy :
All Transfer students from other primary schools who enter at end of P2 to end of P4 (to start new academic year P5), can only join Mixed Ability classes.
Transfer students are not allowed to join any Top class, until student encounter the next round of streaming.

There are 2 Round of streaming.

streaming occur at end of P2 (to start new academic year P3), and
at end of P4 (to start new academic year P5)

P3 and P4 students : remain in the same class.

                phtthp:
                StillThinking:

Year 2015 was 231 and I heard SNGS is increasing affiliation cop by 5 each year, though I am not too sure how true this is.

Admin Officer from St Nick (Secondary school) section just confirmed that
                for 2015 psle batch -

affliates given priority to enter O level with 230, provided affliates put down St Nick as first choice, in their list of 6 choice Secondary schools.

Officer confirmed is 230 (for affliates), not 231.

She said but if don't put down St Nick as first choice, then no priority given.

Principal said for 2016 Psle : still at 230
but 2017 Psle : need to revise 230

Ya, I know this was a while ago. I meant 2015 sec 1, or a typo error. Sry. :imsorry:

                  FantasyLandDreams:
                  Dear parents,

Checking for a friend who would like to find out how does P3 class allocation works ( her dd is in P2):

                  For a P2 with a total score 280 to 289:
Are they assigned to top P3 class, or minimum must be 290 and above?

                  Thanks.
                  for 2016 P3 (girls born 2007) -
based on end of 2015 P2 year end results (aggregate Total of 3 subjects), the students are streamed, into different P3 classes.

                  Total number of P3 classes = 6

the Top two P3 classes are : Charity & Purity.

Justice is the 3rd Top class.
But, students in Justice class are strong in (English + Maths), but weak in Chinese.
                  Hence, the third class.

The other 3 remaining classes are Mixed Ability (MA) : Grace, Hope, Faith

If you check their P3 tingxie list -
across the entire P3 cohort, the content for tingxie, is different.

The Top 2 classes (Charity & Purity) tingxie content, is tougher than that of the other 4 classes
                  (Justice, Grace, Hope, Faith)
Pupils in Top 2 classes are exposed to more \"chim\" vocab, for tingxie
(you may post to compare between the two list of tingxie, to check how far off is their difference in tingxie content)

As such, parents from the 3 MA are questioning :
Why should the tingxie list content be different (theirs is easier), when at end of the day, from P3 Term 1 to Term 4, all P3 students are sitting for the same, identical HCL Paper 1 and Paper 2 ?

It is not that the 3 MA classes are going to sit for an easier HCL Paper, from the other Top 2 classes ?
This is causing unhappiness, amongst P3 parents now.
In the long run, students from the 3 MA classes, lose out a lot in learning HCL, compared to the other 2 classes.
                  Hard to catch up.

At the end of P4, don't forget there is another round of streaming, based on Total of 4 subjects.
During streaming, how much more, would students from the 3 MA classes, lose out by then for HCL ?

HOD of Chinese department in St Nick, if you happen to be reading this now, please look into this matter. Appreciated & Thanks

                    Hi Greenbird,

Understand your frustration. My gal was a transferred student at P3 fm top school with 2nd position, but was put under MA class for P3 & P4 for the last 2 years. Reason being all transferred students were to put in MA class & rebanded when they P4 to P5. It was risky & challenging when my gal had to mix with other slow-learning ability students. Teachers always screamed here & there because of other "not-so-keen-in-study" students. Teachers are slacky also iin MA class becoz they were sterotyped too! Their teaching pace were very very slow as compared to the Top 3 classes. Materials given also lesser than the Top 3 classes. But tell you- we parents also thought the same way you were lamenting right now- All the gals, no matter Top students or Mixed-ability students - they are taking the same papers at the end of the day! So what the…? The facts told me- if your kids are better off than the MA students in the MA class- Your gals just have to work harder at home, no need to "depend" on the teachers or their system at our school. Becoz the true fact is - there are really very slow students in the MA class, so the HOD/Teachers cannot feed the same material or fast teaching style & apply in MA class as compared to Top 3 classes. My gals have "suffered" the last 2 years & I encouraged my gals to work harder to go to Top 3 classes at P5. It was a long wait to get banded again & my gal successfully banded in 2nd Top class this year! In her class, onLy 5 of them got in to Top 3 classes out of 40 students. My purpose of this post is - we can’t change the system of the school how they think is the best for our gals, as you know- if they give the same materials & same teaching style- other parents would still complain that their kids can’t cope or can’t follow with the pace. So only we parents know our learning-ability of our own child. If you think your child is not that bad after all, just push your child little bit if you want her to go Top 3 classes. Good luck!

After reading the above 2 posts, just like to clarify. I was told about different tingxie lists and tougher given to top 2 pri 3 classes. We made a comparsion and realised that top 2 classes have the easier list. Later we heard some classes were given the wrong version. Hope it clarify.
