As an existing priority SCB customer, one already enjoy a slightly higher int rate.

The $1000 TAKA vouchers too attractive!

Can use child's name to sign up or not? Or must be at least 18 years old?
Yes, SCB requires child to be at least 18 years old and min$200K to sign up Priority SCB.

Caught by surprise the need to queue up for more than 1hr at HLF yesterday, usually no queue with one row of staff waiting for clients to walk in.

Decided to go for their 1.99% p.a for a 18-month FD. Took out my FD which just matured but was only offered 1.97% p.a as my funds were not fresh funds. I had to deposit the collected funds in POSB next door then come back again on Tue to open the FD. :stupid:
          http://www.hlf.com.sg/personal/promotions/201512-fixed-deposits.html

My experience of waiting time at HLF is alwys longer than some other banks ...even when there are only few customers, also take a long time...

Am also eyeing at the 1.99 %... But havent decide to go for 13 mth or 18 mth...since the difference is so little..would prefer to take up a shorter tenor...

Talking abt free gifts fr HLF, i still hv some sitting in the store room...untouched...

As for fresh funds condition...to avoid the trouble of making 2 trips...
i usually exchange cheque with my hub...he issues me a cheque to my name ... So it would be considered as fresh fund...

Why 13mth? Do you expect the interest rate to go up within the next 12mths? I calculated, the new interest rate at the end of 13mth should reach at least 2.06% to make the shorter tenor worth while.

I rejected their 3 tier porcelain tiffin before which i know i will not use it. I like Lock-and-lock containers, it's the most practical free gift. 😂

But only if fresh funds of $200k, right?
To sign up as Priority customer to enjoy higher interest rate etc, one needs to deposit min $200K.

For existing P customers, refer a friend and get $400 TAKA vouchers. For new P customers, it's $200 TAKA vouchers, not $1000. Only if the P customer refers a few customers then can get up to $1000 TAKA vouchers!

I called to check. This is a top-up promo only for existing Treasure members or new Treasure members who sign up/top up to min$350K.

However, the current FD rate for Treasure members is extremely low. For a 6mths FD only 0.35% p.a.

I dislike the idea of putting all eggs inside same nest too! I don't mind to park my money in another bank that offers slightly lower interest rate but no no to put everything in same bank.

Just thinking aloud... if the stock market continue to crash and US halts the increase of rising i/r (projected for next few quarters), end of 13mth, then we may not see any significant rise in FD i/r. In fact, i/r may even drop as money flows out of stocks and shares to the old and trusted (and safe) FDs. :scratchhead:

                        Augmum,

Called HLF, this morning, they revised the rate for their 13mth FD from 1.92%pa to 1.87%pa. 😢

May be more worthwhile to go for the CIMB 12mths FD @ 1.85%pa with 4 cans of New Moon abalone then.
