St Anthony's Primary

Hi Parents of SAPS students,
My child currently is in primary one. Yesterday received a call from teacher that next year he will be in different class.
Example: He is currently in 1-1 and next year he will be at 1-3. Does this mean that his review for his studies is not that good, that why he is in different class next year? -
Hi jacqy,
I don’t think there is any streaming at this stage. We were there for orientation last Sat and saw the class lists pinned near the canteen - there were 8 classes in total, my boy’s class has 31 pax whereas another class has 29. Perhaps they need to reshuffle due to this? -
Hi super-mom,
I understand there is no streaming. Just feel kinda worry why only my son change class. Hope is like what mentioned. Try not to be Kiasu but cant help it. Haha… -

Is there is any Active Recess in SAPS? Some schools i know of, have it whereby children can take turns to play ball games like badminton, floor ball, basketball etc (rackets/balls provided by school) during recess time after they have finished eating. The point is, to get them active rather than eat for the whole recess, i think?

Hi everyone. I am planning on transferring my child to st Anthony. I have read through the post regarding its academic profile. But nothing was mentioned regarding the culture of school and teachers. Please could anyone let me know how are the teachers at the school based on your experience? Are they caring, and encouraging? If a child has any problems with subject or students disagreements, do the teachers follow up? Are the teachers approachable, can we email or contact them easily? Finally what is the school dismissal time? Many thanks!

Hi Oldgal, I try to reply best as I can. I have 2 girls in SAPS.
Teachers: all my kids’ form teachers are very approachable via emails. I try not to disturb them with any phone calls unless VERY urgent or regarding time sensitive matters. I notified them about any difficulties/absence/update of my kids via email and they always respond very promptly. While I’m in school (for any volunteer work/helping the school with events) I see many teachers who are very good role models. They greet pupils, the Principal and Vice principals sometimes have a small talk with the kids. Though a few teachers are not: boys pushed each other and a nearby teacher just stared vacantly, pupils say good morning but the teacher just walk on without replying (didn’t hear? daydreaming?).
My kids learn from early to ask questions and approach the teachers by themselves regarding school works, CCA, learning journey etc. Be proactive, teachers can’t remember all your kids’ multiple CCAs, projects, competition etc. If there’s a clash in timing it’s better for the students themselves to alert the teachers. The respond will be much more favourable.
Dismissal time is 1.45pm but those who leaves by public transport must wait for the school buses to exit the school for safety purposes.
I hope it answers your questions. -
Hi, I am going for registration this year for P1 next year.
I am planning to register under phase 2b. From past statistics there is no balloting in phase 2b. But when I called the school, they said they have a long waiting list and the person wasn't comfortable to say that there is no balloting for phase 2b. Which leads me to think.... could it be that the school doesn't accept applications more than their available places (maybe they verbally tell the parents that chances are slim due to long waiting list) and hence that's why there is no balloting?
It's hard to gauge whether I stand a good chance in phase 2b
-
Anyone can shed any light? Was there balloting in the past years for phase 2b or everyone was successful in getting a place?
-
Dear bizzybee,
Based on past statistics: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/bukit-batok, (except year 2006) all SC & SPR who registered in phase 2b got a place. Balloting only happens in phase 2c.
The past 2 years saw only 72% and 75% application rate. If no major demographic changes/new flats coming up near the area, I supposed this year should be safe too?
