Take a look at the 10 years history of COP http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=80694

Honestly, here are some consideration points, decision is still yours,

          1. If the JC has 2 seats left, 1st student has the raw score that meets COP, 2nd student has raw minus 2 points or 1 point that meets the COP, 3rd student has raw minus 4 that meets COP, which 2 the school will take based purely on scores is a no brainer.

          2. There are situation that happens last year where studentโ€™s L1R5 is single digit, choosing JC (meeting COP) as first few choices and follow by a choice Poly course. Parent was surprised, of course they appeal and go to JC finally.

          3. Based on what happen in the recent PSLE to Sec1 incident where many appeal failed, do be careful of the choices you put on the paper or MOE website.

Before submitting this post, just want to say that I am not scaring anyone and I also declare that I have no children going to JC or Poly or ITE this year.

            Hi there,

i just got my O Level results and i am hoping to pursue my next phase of education in a jc. My l1r4 is 11 and my l1r5 is 17. I got 4 A2s for science, a/e math and malay. And a b3 for english. However, the reason behind my l1r5 grade is due to my humanities, which i got a c6 for. This is highly shocking as i got an a2 for humans in prelims and i am not weak at the subject. Then again, i hope to get into a decent jc such as serangoon and i am going to appeal for a review of my humans papers. What is your advice on appealing on a review of a subject and what should i do? Thanks for your time and understanding ๐Ÿ™‚

              Hi parent and students,

My girl from SCGS is very happy. Secured 7 points before bonus points. She thought she will not fare so well. She prefers ACSI. I prefer RI which is nearer home. Please advise.
I am ex-Rafflesian, however I would say to go with ACSI.

              Reasons:
              1) Number one reason is your daughter herself prefers ACSI. Nowadays JC life is very stressful and I do have a few ex-students who mention that they are quite depressed at school. Hence, why not choose a school where your daughter will be happier?

              2) IB program is much easier to score as one is competing against the Western countries where it is well known that students there don't study as hard as Singaporeans.
This statistic that >50% top students come from Singapore: http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/e ... from-spore

              3) Coming from RI (last time RJC), I can vouch that the teachers there are nothing \"special\" compared to other JCs. They are not bad, but really nothing extraordinary. In fact, RI notes may be harder to understand since they teach a lot of \"extra\" stuff that are outside the syllabus, which is good for general knowledge, but bad if the student is already struggling in the basic material. I do know that many top students in NUS are sent to mid/low tier JCs to teach, hence mid tier JC teachers can be indeed on par with elite JC teachers.

              4) RI girls (those who come from RGS) tend to have a outspoken and assertive personality, focusing on leadership and sports, and can be competitive. Naturally, RGS girls will form a clique together. (There are exceptions of course, this is my personal observation from being in the school.) Your daughter may find difficulty finding friends if she is a quiet and introvert type.

That being said, if your daughter is the leadership/sports and well-rounded type (i.e. very strong in both academics and CCA), RI will be a good fit for her.

This is just my very honest feedback, hope it helps.

Clearly stated in the booklet, that in this case, if all 3 have same nett scores, priority goes as follows:
                  1) first goto singaporean, then PR, then overseas students

                  2) if all 3 are singaporean, then gross score takes precedence (eg 10-2 = 8 gets priority or 12-4 = ๐Ÿ˜Ž

                  3) if all 3 are still the same, eg 10-2 = 8, then computer will randomly select

If a particular JC's cop is say 6, that doesn't mean if you get 6, you will get in. It only means that the last person who entered that JC was 6. Example the last person that went in may get 8-2=6, but those who got 10-4 = 6, may not get in.

Hybrid combi will differ in different JCs.

For reference, Science n Maths subjects fall into Science stream. All other subjects fall under Arts stream.

So you can select 2 of ea from each stream.

My DD took hybrid combi but it's not popular.
