happyhearts:
Thanks happyhearts. I know that our boys are in good hands. Was very encouraged to receive message from level head this morning updating us on how the boys are doing at the camp. Honestly who would actually bother and take the time to keep parents posted unless they have the boys' welfare at heart! Praying that my son will fall in love with SJI hahaHi sbkiasu,
As everyone comes from different background and in a new environment, we all take time to adjust. There are seniors in SJI who told my son \"Its their best 4 years\", other seniors told him that \"The campfire is really something to look forward to\". Encourage your son, I am sure with time, he will adjust well to school as well. -
The level of commitment from the head of level is fantastic! How many teachers in Singapore will update you about what is happening after 12midnight and 6.31am in the morning!

Is there any affiliation between SJI O levels and SJI Senior School? Do the boys get to minus 2 points? During my time, there was affiliation to CJC and affiliated schools could get 2 points off.
Between 5 points (ACSI IP) and 7 points (SJI IP) you said 2 points almost the same..CONNECTION2016:
Almost same. ACSI is 5 point. difference is 2 points. but the IB result difference is huge huge and huge. they have good amount of intake in Y5 (about 200 students). amonst these lots of students scoring 45/44.
But with the average score for ACSI 41.8 vs SJI 40.7, you said both results is huge huge huge difference :slapshead: :stupid:

For the academic years of 2013 β 2016, SJI IBDP will admit 80 students from both SJI and other secondary schools via two routes:
(i) Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE)
Admission into the SJI IBDP is primarily via the JAE which is conducted by Ministry of Education (MOE). It is based on the studentβs GCE βOβ Level L1R5 Aggregate Score. Accordance with the guidelines provided by MOE, Secondary 4 SJI students will not receive bonus point for being an affiliated School. Bonus points for CCA and Higher Mother Tongue are applicable for admission

I am a little confused here.
I thought I read SJI IB first batch is 2018 but how come already have average results of 41? Is that from SJI International - they are having same curriculum?
Anyone can share also 2015 SJI O level L1R5 median? -

They started the IB with students taking O Levels first:I am a little confused here.

maychua1975:
I absolutely agree with maychua1975 ! ACSI has a long history of stellar IB result (not only Singapore, worldwide) and not only in the past 2 years.
The IB results for ACSI is about 42 average, while SJI was 40 last year then went to 41 this year. As you mentioned, the JC intake is very different. The PSLE intake for ACSI IP is also much better.CONNECTION2016:

Then again, by the amount of complaints you have, I'm pretty sure your son is in the wrong school. He'd be better off in ACS(I) =P Good luck. -

SJI International also offers IB. Is that what you mean by same curriculum ?I am a little confused here.

SJI IB first batch refers to SJI IP IB, meaning students admitted to SJI after PSLE, joining Year 1.
Average result refers to SJI students admitted to Year 5 and took the IBDP in 2015. -

Glad to hear your son is happy in SJI. The Sec 1 orientation and campfire are indeed very well run and memorable experience. At the beginning of Sec 3, there is camp TABA for the boys to bond with their new classmates (after Sec2 subject combination). SJI emphasis on camaraderie. My son loves his school and has grown to be much more confident and responsible.
There is no perfect school and no school with ALL good teachers (except maybe the :rahrah: school mentioned in earlier posts on this thread
) but I am impressed with the way the school handled disciplinary issues and parents' feedback. -
Hi pixiedust,
Yes, agreed that there is no perfect school and no school with all good teachers. Even for the schools mentioned in the earlier posts on this thread, if one google or have know of students in these schools, one will realised its not so perfect as one assume them to be.
My son will be glad to know that there is another camp in Sec 3, thanks for letting us know
Already for this Sec 1 camp, he is very excited about it.
