All About A Levels

Hi everyone!
I got a raw point of 10 and a nett point of 8 this year.
I am entering the science stream bc I do not enjoy the art stream althou history will be my exception … i love history
Im very conflicted by my parents as they want me to enter ajc. However, I heard abt their killer maths papers.
I got A1 for emaths and A2 for amaths. Honestly, these results are thanks to my home tutor. I can only afford maths and chem tuition teacher. In jc, im not allowed to be tutored anymore unless its grp tuition. I am really scared that ajc’s maths papers will kill me so badly that it demotivates me thats what my secondary school did to me, i failed my emaths in prelims and c5 amaths
I want to go into sajc badly but there is a distance problem. I stay in Cck and sajc in potong pasir. Its ard a 1hr frm here. I go to secondary school near yck so distance wise I have suffered 4 straight years of this. But potong pasir is far and jc life is supposedly more stress. There are people who are willing to take the mile for it and I myself dont mind. However, my parents are against it, esp if cca ends really late. I prob will enter a less demanding cca and the science course of sajc. I also enjoy the culture there when I went to their open house, in comparison to ajc, although ajc is significantly nearer. I rather be in a school that allows some relax time, bc I can never be someone who can take the ajc culture.
So after considering the distance factor, do you think I should still go sajc? I know of people in cck going there too!
Also, I like a school less focused … on sports. -
SAJC is ok. Make use of travel time to get some reading done. Not wasted time. I guess the mrt ride should be ok

Looking at your DD's grades, it leaves me wondering if I should push my DS to take Higher Chinese as it merely takes a 'Pass' to get an additional 2 bonus points (besides the 2 for CCA). I reckon it makes a lot of difference in terms of available choice of JCs when nett L1R5 is 4 instead of 6... In any case, congrats to your DD for scoring 7 Distinctions!Hi everyone,
my daughter scored 8 raw 6 nett (2 bonus points from her CCA).
English A1
Chinese A1
Full Humanities (Literature) A1
Combined Humanities (History and SS) A1
E math A2
A math A2
Chemistry A2
Considering ACJC and VJC for their Humanities scholarship programme that my daughter is interested in...
Torn between both as I have heard that VJC's school culture is good and students are polite, kind, hardworking...but distance-wise is not that near as ACJC. Direct bus (24 stops) to VJC... Heard that ACJC's HP isn't as good and they have a 'party' culture. But we stay relatively near ACJC...
Any advice is greatly appreciated... -
Hi there,
i just got my O Level results and i am hoping to pursue my next phase of education in a jc. My l1r4 is 11 and my l1r5 is 17. I got 4 A2s for science, a/e math and malay. And a b3 for english. However, the reason behind my l1r5 grade is due to my humanities, which i got a c6 for. This is highly shocking as i got an a2 for humans in prelims and i am not weak at the subject. Then again, i hope to get into a decent jc such as serangoon and i am going to appeal for a review of my humans papers. What is your advice on appealing on a review of a subject and which jc should i go to? Thanks for your time and understanding

Hi all ,
My daughter’s results are as follows:
English: A1
Chinese: A1
Combined Humanities: A1
A Maths : A1
Further Maths : A1
Geography: A1
Chemistry: A2
Biology: A2
Higher Chinese: A2
L1R5 nett : 2
She is deciding between VJ and RI but is still unsure of which jc to go to.
She’s considering taking the hybrid combination : geography, chemistry, econs and math.
Do both jcs offer 4H2 once she enters or is it only offered after J1?
Do you have any advice ?
All advice is greatly appreciated -
My daughter O levels has 10 points and nett 8 points. She in interested in the Arts stream.
Is it wise to put:
First choice - Nanyang JC Arts (7 points)
Second choice - Anderson JC Arts (8 points)
Her preference is NYJC, but would that put her in a disadvantaged position to secure AJC if she can’t get NYJC? -
Hi guys, I just received my o level result and much to my disappointment,I didn’t scored what I expected myself to score .I got a C6 for my English,A2 for my Combined Humanities,E math,A math, Physics,Chemistry,Biology and Chinese Language(I have been feeling very emo for scoring 7 A2 for the past few days) and a B3 for my higher Chinese Language .I was actually feeling confident of scoring at least a B3 for my English, and A1 for the subjected that i scored A2…I got a nett 9.Now the problem is that I want to get into TJC which is very near my home and I might not get into it.So what are the chances I might get in through appeal since I scored so many A2(sighhh) .

1. Don't bother about reviewing. I've rarely (never) seen a result overturned. Still, your choice, if it makes you feel better.Hi there,

2. Any JC is decent. With 17 points, your options are limited (probably 2, or max 3). Hence, which JC is a meaningless discussion. Just focus on getting into one that you have cleared the COP. -

Unfortunately, it doesn't matter how many A2s you score. Your chance = 0.
MOE has made it clear that if you do not meet the COP of the JC, your appeal will not be accepted.
