Pardon my ignorance. Isn’t the JC/poly posting is similar to the Secondary 1 posting, ie. all students are ranked by their T-score and then the posting is by working on a student’s choices first then move on to the 2nd student etc etc.

sometime they missed a key / connecting word, and resulting in an out of point answer, and they thought they did well

it happens, unfortunately at the real, not prelim, papers

            Hi all ,

My daughter's results are as follows:
My girl's O level results are as follows:

            English: A1
            Chinese: A1
            Combined Humanities: A1
            A Maths : A1
            Further Maths : A1
            Geography: A1
            Chemistry: A2
            Biology: A2
            Higher Chinese: A2

            L1R5 nett : 2

She is deciding between VJ and RI but is still unsure of which jc to go to.
She's considering taking the hybrid combination : geography, chemistry, econs and math.
Do both jcs offer 4H2 once she enters or is it only offered after J1?
Do you have any advice ?
            All advice is greatly appreciated

Did you attend the OH yesterday? That will give you a better feel of both schools' environment and culture.

She stands a very good chance of getting into RI n yes both JCs offer 4H2. They will select their combi after they settle in.

Yes, we did. Thank you 🙂

In my opinion, I don't think it's safe to do this because NYJC is getting very popular n your DD COP is 1 point below NYJC COP.

I think AJC is just as good as NYJC.

For me, I rather put AJC as 1st choice as I will stand a better chance.
Pardon me for not agreeing. I think your advise is incorrect.

It is ok to put NYJC as first choice.

Putting AJC as 2nd choice will not jeopardise your chances of getting into AJC. In fact, the only certainty from your advise is that his DD will guarantee to miss her chance to get into NYJC.

If NYJC is your preference, put it as your first choice ... if you didn't get it, it will auto goto your second choice ...

there is no such thing as \"not safe\" to put your dream school as first choice since it's only short of 1 pts based on last year's COP. Usually COP can be + or - 1 pts. So don't be silly not to put your dream school as 1st choice. You have 12 choices, so what is so not safe ? Everyone is selected based on merits and not whether you put as 1st or 2nd choice or 3rd choice for that matter ...

                cheers

NYJC definitely is more supportive of a hybrid combination. Every year there are classes in NYJC which are specifically for hybrid combinations. Subject combinations are extremely flexible in NYJC. The school practically allows you to choose whatever subjects you want to study.

Moreover the school is more up-to-date and I strongly believe provides a more conducive environment to study in as compared to AJC.
Agreed. I think NYJC is a better JC. Lookin at last year's cop NYJC is also more difficult to get in than AJC

Thanks VitoRelax. So, it is the same algorithm as Sec 1 posting. The only difference is that for T-score there is decimal point but not for L1R5, it will involve balloting if the score is the same.

I suggest the parent should find out the number of science or art classes the respective JCs are opening for that year. Some JCs may have a lower cut off points because they have smaller intake for that stream.

Most important factor to consider should be: After visiting the JC, does your child like to study in the JC environment.

I feel that to know whether one JC is better than the other will be to look at their A level grades n not the COP.

COP is very deceiving becos even a 2 pointer student will choose the mid tier JCs.

DS has one friend who is like that.
