      Jennifer:
I like to check with parents whose child is taking 3 sciences in sec 3 or took 3 sciences in sec 3 whether the schoolwork is/was visibly more than sec 2.

My elder boy took 2 sciences and literature then, did not seem to have as much school work as ah boy now.

Not sure whether 3 sciences are considered heavier content subjects or ah boy is slow in doing schoolwork.

      MTIA.
My girl in 3 sciences. She seem busy doing homework since yesterday. As she is help out in orientation this weeks for 5 days. Hence, I am not sure is it the contents is heavy or she squeeze 1 week homework to weekend.

        Dnls _mum,

        Appreciate your sharing.

Maybe ah boy needs some time to settle into the new timetable and increased number of subjects.
Increased? I thought the no. subjects decrease in sec 3? They just get split up more.

My DS did the Russian exchange programme in JH3 and JH 4. I recall he applied for the exchange programme in JH3 only. There are various exchange programmes available for the kids that qualify to apply. I recall there was some selection exercise or process, not all who applied will get it.

DS went Moscow for 2 week in June, their research exchange is with a top chemistry school in Moscow and their research is supervised by russian professors. We also hosted a Russian boy in Sept when he was in JH3. In JH4, DH and I were away when the Russian boy came in Nov. There was some last minute change from sept to nov on the school side, so we cannot host them.

DS definitely enjoyed his research programme. He had a Russian professor as mentor and did some research topic that I simply did not understand. I recall one of the minsters were at the exhibition where they presented their research and that minster actually posted photos on his Facebook and commented that it was chim.....I felt better.....hehe
Thanks for sharing! Do you remember how do the students qualify to apply? Academic results? Selection tests? Science and math? Your DS research exchange experience sounded so fun and enriching šŸ˜„

I understand from DS that only those who do Advanced Science in JH3 are eligible to apply for the Russian exchange programme with Moscow Chemical Lyceum. Those that apply will need to take a selection test. They only have 3 places a year so you will need to be among the top 3 of the selection test to get chosen.

DS definitely enjoyed his exchange programme. it has fueled his interest in Chemistry research.
