So nowadays financial decisions are influenced by a can of abalone? :siam:

For a minimum sum of $38k, it's like an upfront interest of 0.1% paid out to you. In any case, with or without the abalone, the interest of 1.88%p.a. for a 1yr FD is till attractive, the can of abalone is just a deal sweetener.

Does this mean that anyone who now wants to place the 12 mth FD with Sing Investment is not given the can of abalone?

So what is the replacement gift?

      Or none at all?
No replacement gift, while stock last.
The only branch still with stock (for the 1 yr FD) is Clementi. Likely to run out by tomorrow morning, call before you go down.

For CIMB, need to open an a/c with them & then get another token before a FD a/c can be opened?

        CIMB has only 2 outlets?
Have not gone down yet. $38k one can abalone, $68K two cans of abalone + one can clams, $138K four cans of abalone + one can clams.....

But interest not as high as Sing Finance unless one top up till $250K to become their \"preferred customer\".

Standard Chartered Bank's promotion has been extended till end of Jan 2016. So far, the bank is flexible in providing higher rates. Have friends getting 2.1% pa for $40K for 2 years and 2% pa for $200K for a year.

The bank is going all its way out to woo customers' money?

I called CIMB early morning and they told me all abalone sets had been fully redeemed. So i decided to go for Stand Chart 2.08% pa for 24mths deal. I recall alng saying that her friend can bargain for better rates so I tried my luck.

To my surprise, Stand Chart gave me 2.13% pa for 24mths. :lovesite:

Of cos, I am worried if banks can be so flexible, they are likely desperate for funds? Hope Stand Chart will still be around after 2yrs! πŸ˜‚

I think foreign banks are more flexible and desperate for SGD. Local banks have too much SGD that they do not treasure us as customers.

The bank officers still have to seek permission for higher rates. Accordingly to them, this year they do not have to approach HQ for higher rates approval. Their branch manager could approve up to certain level.
