Very interesting. If true, that minimum 7-day rule is too bad - bad for home-owners and bad for travellers. Hopefully after they try it out in that one Ota district, they'll scrap it, instead of expanding it.

At least when I was there in 2014, if you had 3 or 4 people, it was always cheaper (and of course much nicer) to do Airbnb than to stay in any hotel (including capsule hotels).

For those interested, I have started writing up my April 2015 Sakura Trip in my blog. I had been asked to share that trip experience on KSP by some fellow KSPs but never got down to doing it so far. We did an 8 days trip to Miyajima, Hiroshima, Tomonoura, Okayama, Himeji, Kyoto, Kobe and Osaka during the cherry blossom flowering week. Flying in via Fukuoka and out via Osaka. It was an awesome trip with good food, nice onsen and beautiful flowers. I never knew Sakura could be so beautiful and never understood the Japanese's obsession with them. Now I am converted!
