No, proximity does not qualify you for phase 2B. The priority phases (1, 2A1, 2A2, 2B) are determined by your relationship with the school.

The distance only gives you advantage when balloting is necessary to allocate places.

Take a good look at this MOE site http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/phases/ which will tell you all you need to know about the different phases.

And the school’s permanent address will be used for the distance for balloting. Not the temporary address.

Thank you tankee for enlightening...I was wondering about that myself.

Hi all, I'm new here, it seemed like SLA has forgo the previous paid service for checking distance of primary school to a building to a free service that is OneMap, i get directed to this site from http://www.sla.gov.sg.

Can someone confirm that I can trust the information found on this site? cos some maps I use says I'm not within 1km of my desired school, but this website does.

                http://www.onemap.sg/index.html.

                Thank you so much.

Always verify the distance with the schools. The schools have a detailed list of addresses within 1km, or 2 km

Hello Chef, if I recall from the previous threads that if each parent has a different address, is it true that the school will use the address on the father’s ID?

In my case, because I am staying with my in-laws at Bedok, my address @ IC is the Bedok one. We are still owning our flat and my husband keeps our address on his IC. Now, we are hoping to enrol my girl into a Bedok school. And I am thinking of being a parent volunteer - my application and the copy of IC indicate the address @ Bedok. Will this work? Or will we be rejected at Phase 2B because MOE will pick my husband’s ID address instead? Someone please advise. Thanks.

                        Hi everyone,

I am new here. I have recently signed an option to purchase agreement for a resale flat within 1 km of my school of choice for my daughter and I intend to stay there in the future. However, as at the date for my daughter’s P1 registration in July/Aug this year, I would not have even gone through the first appointment at HDB yet.

Can I still use the address of my new resle flat to register my daughter for the school of my choice? What documents do I need to produce at her registration?
