      Irabbit,

My daughter here is different from your junior.
She needs to revise lower block topics because she can really forget. So I pick topics like magnets, heat, states of matter...because some are 'independent' topics while others are related to upper block. If you have a child with short memory/forgetful, it's never ending.

When she is stressed, she plays her type of music on the speaker or in the car...not my cup of tea but just bear with her in the meantime.
She will also ask for chocolate or ice cream...anything sweet.
I see. Looks like every kid has his own challenges. We just have to keep trying. What to do? We can't abandon our kids right?

Some kids will find the increased volume of work a breeze, some will struggle but still get it done, some just do for the sake of doing, some crumble under the workload.

You are right, irabbit…these are our kids. We just have to do what we can…but never give up on them.

Just asked the school. My gal’s school no supp classes till July (once a week, I don’t think it’s meant for everyone). June holis 3 days and Sep holis 3 days compulsory for everyone. For those that require remedial, this has already started, in fact, started since P5. Is this usual or is the school expected to give more supp classes?

ok is supp class meant to speed up and wrap up the syllabus or in-depth teaching? School commented that they can finish the P6 syllabus by SA1.

supp class is supposed to supplement what is taught during curriculum.
at last briefing, it was mentioned that P6 syllabus will complete mid term 3 followed by revision.

Mine started supp since P5 (every Tues/Thurs). For this year, supp just started in Feb, also Tues/Thurs. As for extra lessons, it will be 5 days during the Jun hols.

she had supplementary in P5…twice a week.

this year also twice a week…except that i took her out of Friday’s supp but she would have to ask her classmate if there is any homework given during supp.

Not all parents want supp class for various reasons.

My kid's teachers said all that is required to be taught will be done during normal lessons. Supp class is just something extra (extra in what sense I really have no idea - maybe more exercise or whatsoever) and parents are strongly encouraged to let kids attend (haha, school letter said is compulsory).

We are treating tuition and the supp class as revision so that we can have some time to go through those subjects he has no tuition.

His friends have been feeding him with info on the many schools 😄 and he has been checking them out on the Internet. only thing he find stresses him out is everyday someone sure complain abt psle stress. He is trying to be positive abt it but sometimes too many mouths complain and he 破功 😂

So far the only feedback I got was that the teachers are treating the supp classes as extension of class time - going through stuff they don’t have time to cover during regular hours. No PSLE stress for mine yet - possibly don’t know what’s going to hit him. Revision is still an alien concept. He still plays games on computer/handphone but happy to say he seems to have cut down on these.

A lot of projects deadlines these few weeks and super glad he is keeping on top of these by himself.
