All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

Can anyone please advise when to register for PV? My son will be going to P1 in 2011.

You should register now.


For some super hot schools, their PV registration already closed. I think most successful PV are clocking their hours now.

The MOE website states that all PV must start at least 1 yr before the year of registration. For your case, you must start before Jun 09 and clock in at least 40hrs (some schools more) before Jun 10. Your child P1 registration should start Jun/Jul 10.

Based on past 2B result those >2km are very risky.

36 is the total applicants in last year 2B including PV+RC members. They have not included the RC when they said they have 20 PV for this year. So the final 2B applicants could be more than just 20.

A friend of mine PV at NHPS have to ballot in 2B last year and fortunately got in. In the process they saw a triplet got in before their child. That mean 3 seats were taken just for that one draw. Well, it was something that they won't want to go through again.

Taking example that I am within 1km from the school I wanted to enrol my ger to but they will be shifting out of the current location due to reno and expansion. The school will shift back 2 years later.

By the time of P1 enrolment, the school had shifted to the temporary holding premises. Shld I be calculating the temporary premises to my home? If so I will be out of 2km.

I guess the best bet would be to call up the school to check.

I think I have read it somewhere at the moe website. The distance should be taken from the school permanent address, not from the temporary one.


BUT PLEASE check the moe website to confirm (should be under P1 registeration FAQ).

That depends on how far u stay from the school, whether u have a chance under 2C.

If you fail to secure a place in a school in Phase 2B, you can either choose the same school or try to register in another school for Phase 2C. Your chances are all reset along with everyone in the Phase.
