Not bad. SCB gave 1.78% for $100k for 12 mths. -
I recalled some mums (including lee_yl?) locked in rates for longer tenure and this proves a correct move.

I also think it is wiser to lock in for longer tenure if you get 2% for FD and that your funds are available.
SCB started with a 2% FD. None of the local banks followed. DBS/POSB had their CNY 1.88% last year but they were nothing close to 1.88% this year. This means that the banks will take a while more to reach 2%. We may not even get 2% next year. So when SCB offered higher than 2%, should just take it up for 24 months.
Hope this is a wise decision.

I was thinking the int rates are on a rising trend and thus didn't take up longer tenures.starlight1968sg:

Now I can only :frustrated: and

SCB increases home morgage interest rate to 2.2%. So SCB FD interest rate is now at 2%. I believe as the home morgage increase, FD interest rate will follow.

No, SCB FD int rates are reduced. Even with 2yr tenure, it is <2%pa.

HLF revises her rates too
Was looking at ANZ 1.88% pa for 10 mth FD last week but too late, ANZ revised it downwards to 1.80% pa.
our \"guess\" in earlier thread is quite true, that int rates will drop, but this is fast.
Bank 'solicit' enuff , not hungry for $ ?[/quote] :hi5:
Btw, my DH told me last night that financial analysts have raised the spectre of 3 banks defaulting as a result of their exposure to commodities, oil and gas and China. The credit default swaps (basically insurance premiums against default) for the bonds issued by these 3 banks have also spiked in the last 2 days.
The 3 banks? State Bank of India, Deutsche Bank and Standard Chartered. Keeping my fingers crossed that nothing untoward will happen. -
