Does anyone plan to pull out your funds from SCB or just wait n see????????

The info is meant to keep everybody updated and not meant to frighten anybody. While money in the bank is relatively safe, it is not zero risk, otherwise, there won't be a need for \"deposit insurance\".

Thus far, no bank has failed in Singapore. Even in AFC 1997, MAS only merged smaller banks with stronger banks.

I'm not saying SCB will collapse but it will be prudent not to put all the eggs in one basket.

No, I am not pulling out my funds from SCB but I am mentally prepared that in the worst case I only get back $50K (although I will 😢 )

Leeyl ,won't happen wan la :xedfingers:
Yep the news link Lee yl shared is for info only.
Now is a whole world economic crisis , generally cut across all
Banks , Corp compy, most countries etc Big consumer banks is unlikely to fall , too many consumers / acct holders world wide - if it fall, the power countries n world central bank will intercept too .

OT: Traditional method - buy gold n keep at home ( if u think bank is unsafe) , then must buy big sum of home insurance too to protect the gold 😉

      Happy week ends 🙂

I was looking at a bank pamphlet the other day, foreign currency deposit is not insured.

Not sure whether DBS multiplier account is insured only for the S$ portion.

Yesterday, I saw news - a financial analyst says foreign currency is currently very volatile. I don't think its wise to speculate now.

Agree it's volatile . But some going into aust market already- dunno how long the rate will maintain - I hope long enuff , on par to Sing . Yen too . Lately, yen movement is \"erratic\"

And maybe yen is too tricky to touch. Jap govt doesn't want to see strong yen.

There is a HL Bank at Goh&Goh Building, next to the Beauty World MRT stn, the branch manager is a very nice man. Think can book appointment on HL web site, choose a branch nearest you and someone will confirm the appointment date and time.
