Volcanic Ash Cloud... How much will it affect us?
-
Four engines also will be exposed to the volcanic ash.. ..
maybe can last a bit, or twice as long than 2 engines
-
not to worry, flight ban has been lifted in most affected countries. pp are on the way home.

what is more worrying is that they are being pressured to open the airport by compromising safety issues ... -

Just came across this thread and thought I'd share...
Was due to go for a long awaited break to London 3 days after the volcano erupted. Was a rare chance that everything seemed in place for me to make this trip.
1. My partner had a meeting to attend there so expenses were paid for.
2. My bestfriend was already there so we could meet up and spend some girl time together which is rare here what with kids etc.
3. Another close friend (from sch days!) was on leave from work and not only could put us up at her place but was free to show us around and spend time catching up.
4. My ex was back in SG and was able to take over the kids for 2 weeks while I got a rare break.
5. The weekend I was to arrive and spend in Stratford (the birthplace of Shakespeare) was also Shakespeare's birthday and there was to be a HUGE town-wide celebration. (Yes, I am a geek who loves Shakespeare).
Sigh, I guess it really was one of those times when the saying \"Too good to be true.\" is totally accurate. By the time they reopened the airports etc and with 3 days worth of passengers ahead of us trying to get back to UK, the meeting got cancelled which meant if we went ahead with the trip, expenses would have doubled. The delays also meant that my Ex could not watch the kids all the way thru and anyway it would have eaten into exam week so in the end we cancelled everything.
Such is the power of Mother Nature.
