I believe this is school-specific. In general, the better a student does, the more choices he has. But there may be some minimum requirement for certain subjects, eg. a minimum Maths score to do Add Maths, and this may vary from school to school. The school will brief parents at some point during the year, but you could ask the form teacher when that will be.Hi
My DS is in Sec 2 this year. I would like to ask what determines whether you get your choice of subject combi? Does the school take overall results and then rank students just like PSLE and those ranked on top will get their choice first? or is it based on your strength (subjects that you scored well?)

Are you referring to Imperial College in London? -

Imperial College looks at BMAT scores and not SAT (which is more relevant for US unis), and offers are made conditional on scoring AAA at H2 level for medicine (for Singapore A levels).jtoh:

Actually, of the 3 you mentioned, only Harvard is Ivy league. I think the UK universities are still more in tune with A levels than SAT although they will consider SAT for applicants without other sorts of results.kennethTutor:

U did choose the wise subject combination for your girl. With this, she is able to apply all the faculty at uni. sat will start the new format in mar 2016. -
Hi my daughter is in Sec2 and she wish to take Pure bio n pure Chem for O levels…is it ok if she drops Physics totally?Does it affect her JC entry?n A level subject combination?..pls help…in a big dilemma…thnx
