if parent is not from the primary school but NYGH, can still be considered phase 2A2? where can I ask?
when u were in NYGH, was NYPS still a section of the school was it already a separate but affiliated school ?
call the NYPS office will do. -

affiliation is not the same as being the same school

long time ago, NYPS was not a separate school from NYGH like now. it was functioning as part of the Nanyang Girls School, primary section (with boys) - so were u part of the secondary school while the primary SECTION was still part of the school ? that is the question.
if not mistaken, u can claim phase 2A (1/2?) if u were in the secondary section before the school was split into officially primary school and girls high school
never mind about the alumni in the same family which also includes the kindergarten
i think the NY family is trying their best to accomodate as many as possible who can claim kinship under phase 2A (1/2?) -
how do I find out which year they split up?

My DD is due for P1 registration for P1 next Jun/July. She is born in 2005. From reading the discussions, can I conclude & ask the following:
1. Registration deadline is not yet closed for my DD. However, if the school has taken and accepted enough parents for PV for that year(due for P1 in 2012), all applications will be futile?
2. Even if they still take in applications, if at the point of applying for PV, you stay outside of 2 km, your chance of getting selected for interview is slim, and as good as none? Unless, you indicate your intention to move within 1 km before registration?
3. How does NYPS choose their PV applicants? They handpicked through resumes and NOT through balloting? I know some schools ballot as the no. of applications exceed the no. of places available to do PV.
4. What other schools handpicked their PV?
Thanks for enlightening me : ))
Hi! I do not know how NYPS chooses its PVs (not via balloting thou) but I don't think distance plays a part. I live more than 2km from the school and was accepted as a PV. My advice is to go ahead and put in your application and wish for the best!! Best of luck

It should be 1978. So if you are in NYGH before that, your kids should qualify for phase 2A. But best confirm with NYPS. -

1. no harm trying, as some may pull out for whatever reason
2. if two applicants for the same PV duty, if I were the principal, I would give it to the one nearer so as to avoid balloting in Phase 2B, just in case the 2B vacancies is short by one
3. have not heard about balloting for PV at NYPS. Last time I faxed in PV request using Jurong address - no reply. Then I used my address within 500 m from school, got call up to start the PV immediately....hence my speculation on the selection process.
The rationale is to avoid balloting for those further away, and don't want a situation where PV couldn't get in. Having said that, a relative with even further than Jurong address also got call up for PV (in a different year)...hence I say, no harm trying, no venture no gain
the other main pillar of the PV thingy is this : meet the need of the school -

It is too late if you haven't registered as PV for 2005 kids with NYPS. Check the school website. http://www.nyps.moe.edu.sg/My DD is due for P1 registration for P1 next Jun/July. She is born in 2005. From reading the discussions, can I conclude & ask the following:
