Janet, the anti anxiety must get from doctor or available at pharmacy. -
The secret is not to show to your child that you are stressed. The child will have peer/school-induced stress leading up to PSLE!

For Chinese, it's easier to count the no of words as they will have to write it on a standardised 稿纸。I am wondering, what is the number of pages your child writes for Chinese compo and English compo?
My dd's Chinese teacher told her class that they MUST write at least 4 pages. She is in a Higher Chinese class.
Dd got 27/40 for a 2.5 pg compo once. Reason was she did not meet the requisite min of 4 pages but subsequently gets btw 36-38 if she writes 4 pages or more. There are ppl in her class who writes 6-8 pages regularly! I think 4 pages is too much under exam conditions. She is also confused as her Chinese exam essays gets 36-37 even though she writes only 2.5 pages.
I personally think that 4 pages is too much. The actual PSLE compo paper is only 50 minutes if I remember correctly, minus the time for planning and checking, only about 40 minutes left for actual writing? I think it is better to let the child practise what she can handle well under exam conditions i.e within the 50 minutes. No point getting her to churn out a 4 pages or more essay if she needs to take a longer time to do it. jmho. -

Yup that's what I did for my older boy. I took him out of supp classes and several weeks of class prior to sch exams. He didnt attend school a few weeks bef PSLE also. His teachers say he was very disruptive, talks too much and dont pay attention in class and was grumbling that he will do badly in PSLE aft CA1.
to say i will bear responsibility and ask that homework not be snowballed?Coolkidsrock2:
Of course you have the option. Just write a note.
what if the teachers come back to me and say they will discuss the work done but my daughter didn't complete?
Quite liberating for me actually. I nvr get anymore calls about him not doing hw oso, no complains about his behaviour. I think the teacher was happy to be rid of him lol. I pretty much taught him the entire PSLE curr myself. Bcuz he didnt go sch, he didnt do many of the papers given by his teachers. They oso dont follow up what he didnt do.
He did much much better than the predicted 22+ he got in P6 CA1 : ) Now in VJ, his ex-pri sch teacher cldnt believe her eyes when she saw him running the orientation programme.
I hv to agree the Maths wkbk doesn't prep my children for sch exams. They are really too ez. -

It was a brave move on your part to take him out of school before PSLE.

My older one has gone through PSLE 4 years ago...but he didn't attend supplementary lessons because they were just doing past year exam papers one after another.
As for the math workbook, it is a waste of time to do the questions. At least the stellar worksheets and science homework were more helpful.
As your son didn't do many of the past year papers, did the teachers discuss the questions and answers in class? I really wonder how else to prepare my daughter for PSLE other than past year exam papers. -

You are absolutely right. I hv advised my dd to write at her comfort lvl tomm during exam ie 2.5 pages. Normal writing will also be 2.5 to 3 pages. Pressuring her to write more than that will just leave her with insufficient time to do other hw.ilovelaksa:

Told her I will explain to her chinese teacher. But I think she will still barely pass her Chinese essays on normal writing due to insuff word count. Her Chinese teacher made it clear that her 20+ mark was awarded for 2+ pages. Teacher told her If she had written 4 pages, she will get 36 and abv. -
