Too bad it is raining the whole night...it would be better if the faculty dance competition is held at the plaza rather than at the hall. Saw my DS dancing...funny!but he enjoyed himself. The talk is not very useful, everything we need to know is on the handout...but I wonder how true is it when the presenter said it is not easy to get 45 marks in HCI which is grade E!!

But very useful to meet the CT.

I agree - space constraint really spoilt the dance but Apollo is really good n deserves to win.

I thought there will be 2nd n 3rd placing but surprisingly none.

I didn't meet up the CT. Did I miss out on anything? Pls share why do u say it's useful?

I guess depending on the CT and class, my DS CT briefly explain the make up of the class eg how many taking KI, some taking different subjects etc. Beside handling out time table and some info, She also explain the expectation of GATE program, PW (the project title is likely to be out next month) etc.

Anyone DS/DD already signing up for projects? I am not sure what research projects my DS is signing up but need to go through selection. Seem like DS already line up what project and CIP he is going to do, told us he will be very busy throughout the year and weekends.

DS today went for some warrior challenge (kayaking, rock climbing etc) organised by school, anyone went too?

Too bad it was raining very heavily. My DD and the cohort were very disappointed. They spent alot of time rehearsing. However, they won this year! CT went through the time table, schedule of examination, when not to take leave of absence, the make up of the class, & the contact subject teachers. The CT will be with my DD for 2 years. I find the chairperson PSG very interesting.

I wonder how many O level students are admitted/selected to this GATE program?

From what I understand, GATE program is for the top 20% of the cohort and since SMTP students are taught in an accelerated and extended syllabus during their sec 3 & 4 which would have covered alot more than those O level students, then how can we expect these O level students to perform well in the test to be selected? Kind of like HCI students have an advantage since it is a continuous of their SMTP from high school.

I wonder how the GATE students perform for their A level.
From what I understand from my DS, there is no O level student in his class, half of his class is from his former HCI SMTP class. I am not sure about other GATE classes. In a way, I agree that you have to be in HCI/NYGH programs to benefit (or gain entry) from JC's GATE/SMTP programs.

Nowadays, a student is assess holistically in both their academic and non-academic performance, thus, anything extra will be helpful in their scholarship applications.

I let my DS go to as many activities as possible if times permit, anyway, most of the expenses are subsidized by either the school or MOE. So he has went to 2 China immersion programs, school boarding programs, OBS overseas expeditions to Taiwan....

Heard from my DS that HCI’s 2015 A level is the best ever since the start of IP program…source from his teacher…let’s see…
