Mummies,
If your kids have a lot of homework from school, how do you ensure they are ready for tests/exams since it would be ‘cruel’ to add any more revision? Your advice is appreciated. -
i consider the hw/ revision practise papers given by sch as part of test/exam revisions. i get my child to revise/look thru again sch prac papers ( anyway they are combination of qns fr other sch past exam papers or fr set by dept )

To me, homework is just fulfilling school requirements. And teachers do get them to do 'nonsense' stuff from time to time.Mummies,

I told my kids I don't consider completing homework revisions. Must dig out files to revise then counted.
I don't have a revision timetable because I have no idea how much homework there is. It varies from day to day so no point having a timetable that can't keep to. I have a mental list on what to study. -
homework IS completing school requirements.
to me, revision for Science means to take out notes to go through. that is also what the teacher feels...then getting bite size assessment done after revising to find out if the child understands what is revised.
for math, it would be to practise.
how to strike a balance without the child being infused with too much work is really difficult...i am trying to lighten her workload now :frustrated: -

Aft so many yrs, I still don't understand how the sch can load so many pp and hw bef CA1 SA1 Prelim PSLE. Where is the time to revise? Teachers' idea of revn is to hv an entire subject pp done a day bef the subj exam itself.
The most annoyg thing is that the teachers sometimes dont even review the prac pp bef or aft the exams. They jus get the kids to copy the solution. Dd got classmates who are just blindly scribbling the answers bcuz they cant cope with the wkload.
I told dd we still hv 6-7 mths to prep for PSLE. No need to 'panick' now. Otherwise she is going to push too hard and burn out. -

I dont add anything now. Dd jus do sch wk and treat all the exams now as tests : ) But if you are using the results for DSA that's a different story. DSA requires P6 CA1 and SA1 results.Mummies,

Yesterday she had 4 problem sums left from a subj pp. She was already so tired from a long day of choir training and just cld not solve them. I told her to stop n just hand it in. Sleep is more impt. I photostated the worksheet. Today she did the photostated wksheet quite easily. I reviewed them with her. No choice. Teacher hasnt even mark the pp yet. Dunno when it's coming bc even. -

Talk about useless. The other day dd came bc n said she has to do a poster. Directive was given today and hand in tomm.
And teachers do get them to do 'nonsense' stuff from time to time. .
She had several wksheets, 4 page chinese compo to write and 默写 to learn. By the time she finished them it was already 8.30pm. I hv a strict bedtime. Told her to sleep. Cant hv her do the artwk cuz it will take at least 2h. She was teary bcuz teacher said they MUST hand in tomm to participate in an art presentation. This is not the first time already. I told her I will settle this.
Aft she slept, I got older ds older dd dh to gather together and drew/colour the whole thing for her in 30 minutes. The next day she handed it in. But she told her teacher she didn't do it cuz she had no time. Teacher just said ok. Nvr scold her or anything. Took the art pc and nothing was mentioned about it aft that. -
some ridiculous work would be to do some project for social studies...this is really dumb  project at this time and girls have to meet after school??? no way! last month, the teacher asked the girls to write an article...1000 words :siao: if this craziness continues, i will have to write in.
since this is a crucial year, and with 6 months plus to go, i will see how to reschedule her daily work. since not using DSA. a pass will do for next week's CA1. -

Depends on whether the homework is school worksheets or revision papers. If they are papers, for me, I treat as revision but must do properly. More important is DD's attitude. No point so many papers and not constructively done.Mummies,

if it is the school's past year exam paper, i would definitely want her to do properly...that would be an indication and revision for the real CA.
