Yes, you can take geog as the contrasting subject, but it is not advisable to take both bio and geog together as they are both content heavy.

Next year A level Bio content got reduction. iirc cell biology is lesser

Can. As econs is humanities subject, geography, history, and English lit as well.

It does seem that a majority of science students take Econs as the contrasting subject, but beside the ones mentioned, there are also 3rd languages (eg. German, French, Japanese), Eng Lang and Linguistics, China studies and, of course, KI (counts as a contrasting subject for both sciences and arts students).

Any idea whether there is a standard difference in the boys’ papers and RGS’s. One boy ever commented to me that he found the girls’ papers easier than theirs. How true is this?

Probably that's how the top boys feels about it.

Probably because RI has gap semester so 4 years materials are crammed into 3.5 years.

Both schools have a common paper in Yr4 for English, Maths and Chem (around April or so?). Rumour has it that the boys do better on average in Maths and Chem, but the girls are better on average in English. Do note that this is on average, and that does not preclude some girls doing better than some boys in Maths/Chem, and some boys doing better than some girls in English. And this is only rumour as the comparison between the 2 schools is not made known to the students or parents (presumably the teachers know, but they don't tell!). For other papers, I have no idea.

ORA Workshop on \"Helping Your Child Excel in PSLE Maths\", 15 March 2014

The aim of this hands-on workshop is to teach parents of Upper Primary pupils the Advanced Model Method, and various Speed Maths Shortcuts and Speed Maths Tips & Tricks, so that they can motivate their Children to excel in Maths.

Who should come?
Parents who are interested in helping their Upper Primary school children excel in Mathematics.
Primary 5 and 6 pupils who want to do well in PSLE Maths are also welcomed.

Why should I come?
Parents who attend will be able to learn how to use the Advanced Model Method, and various strategies, to help their children solve challenging and non-routine mathematical problems encountered at the upper primary level.
The Advanced Model Method can be used to solve ALL (100%) of the “Double Ratios” problems in the Primary 5 and 6 Maths syllabi. It can also be used to solve many maths problems involving fractions, ratios and percentages.

This is a reply to ruyu. You can see that Nanyang Girls' High School at COP 264 and Hwa Chong Institution (HCI) at COP 260 are surpassing both RI and RGS in COP for various reasons. Collectively they are still the Top 4 schools in Singapore as we could see on http://www.edugo.com and http://www.edupoll.org.


Since the birth of Singapore, we have only 2 full female Cabinet ministers - Lim Hwee Hua ( former Cresent Girls' School ) and Grace Fu ( former Nanyang Girls' High School )

Singapore's top-ranking female CEO is Mdm Ho Ching of Temasek Holdings is also from Cresent Girls' School.

No Cabinet ministers from RGS and HCI yet. Just FYI.
