From what I know, the application ended on 12 Feb 2016 already. We also knew this at the last minute when seeing students' videos on youtube. The piano masterclass was supposed to be 5 March.

anyone has any thoughts to share after attending the SOTA open house, esp the IB curriculum and the dance academy?

No real opinions on the school leaders’ talks, but after speaking to the educators at the IB booths, I am very impressed. That said, i think some kids are better suited to IB than others, so a lot depends on the child.


It sounds like throughout year 5-6, there will be continual formal assessments for IB, so the child has to be able to maintain momentum, and deal with constant pressure - so it works better for those who may panic or go blank at a single exam (eg. PSLE, O levels, A levels). To do IB, i think a strong command of EL is essential and non-negotiable, whereas you can get away with less at the A-levels. You also need to be comfortable writing essays and doing oral presentations.

I attended a dance showcase although my child is not applying under Dance - they were very good! And i think the teacher who did the presentation (dunno her name cos i was late) was very upfront and candid about the expectations, which is good.

I was looking at their website. I have a question regarding fees; besides the monthly sch and miscellaneous fees, are there any other costs involve?
Do students in the visual arts need to pay for the raw materials they use in class? How often do students go on Learning Journeys to other countries? Do the Year 1s get to go or will it start for say, Year 2s onwards?
