Hi oneheart,My 2006 gal just started foundation a few weeks back. Wat I can say it that she enjoys the class very much. Every week, there will be pictures for her to learn the beginning sounds eg m-mouse, m-mountain etc. she's able to say out beginning sounds of words when we just test her out on those pics not in her book.
Other than that, due to short attention span of kids her age, there's writing practise, and crafts to emphasize on the sounds learnt eg if she's learning the m sound, then they'll do a craft work on mouse....making mouse from paper plates etc.
Overall, she enjoys her class n looks fwd to it. Doing her homework is also not a chore cos she enjoys coloring the pics after learning the sounds.
May I know which outlet is your child attending? The foundation usually how big is the group size? Heard that weekend & weekday fee there is a huge difference? Considering on LCentral for my DD now.
So normally at what age the child would be able to read? Is it with the use of phonics can read those words? -

Dear Sir/Madam,Hi all
I am a teacher at LCentral.
The method we use to teach phonics is the LCentral way.
Our website is quite useful if you want to know more.

May I know what do you mean by the LCentral way? Assuming a child start with foundation level where now is age 4. At what age can LCentral confirm the child able to read? -

Hi Titank
I sent you a message to your inbox. -
My son is K2 this year…and i sent him for assessment in both ICR an LC, and found that he has no ideas on phonics…i suppose his childcare dont really did a gd job in building a gd foundation of english…
I have enrolled him in the launchpad in LC…the reason why i chose LC is becoz they teach writing skill as well (although my son already know how to write)…whereas ICR only emphasize on Read/Listen/Oral Presentation…he will be starting his 1st class next week…hope he can learn to read himself within short period…and most of all, i do think a gd foundation in english is very important for him, as all the subjects taugth in school is in ENGLISH…if he failed to understand English…then all gone…^^ -
Btw…can any experience parents advise me on this…do we still need to spend more time with our kids to revise what has been taught in the center?? How?

My gal ( also k2 now) attend two time trial leason last two week. .
For first time she felt shy seldom to talk on beginning but after tat ok. I just revise the spelling on next week.
When I asked her about the class & teacher. She told me tat she like it & quite enjoy in the class. -
For my K2 boy who is in Liftoff, homework is basically revising the spelling, sight words & reading passages which he has done for the previous week.Parents has to sign & date each time revision is done. My son usually finish all this around 15-20min. Dun have to take too long cos he already did in class…just reinforcement at home.

When ds1 was in the LaunchPad, we didn’t really revise with him besides him doing the homework assigned by his teacher (2-3 pages a week).
After he started LiftOff, we revised with him on reading the passages (3 times a week) and spelling (twice a week) – that’s 5 days a week. -
The center just open a new branch in Tiong Bahru Plaza, i want to take this…wan to know more about it.
