Definitely SJI did quite well in IB. But request you see more detailed result. How many perfect score and how many near perfect score and compare. As a parent can't we dream the similar from SJI. Out of 80 student-- 8 Perfect score and 20 near perfect score. Does it not mean huge huge different. My point is not to criticise rather to take or follow a better system which is already proven as best.
The IB results for ACSI is about 42 average, while SJI was 40 last year then went to 41 this year. As you mentioned, the JC intake is very different. The PSLE intake for ACSI IP is also much better.maychua1975:

Agree with both of you that ACSI is doing extremely well due to their long history. At the same time may I request you to go in depth how they are doing so well. In fact their IB curriculum starts right from Sec 1 where as SJI starts at Sec 3. Their are few more steps taken by them to ensure guys to perform best in academically as well as holistically. My point is not to compare and put one up and another one down. My point is constructive argument and to embrace, support and follow the better system. No system or organisation in the world is perfect. Their are always pros & cons on all the system. Their are thousands of things are THE BEST in SJI compared to any school in the world. One of those is the bonding, SJI Family and brotherhood. Academically ACS(I) already established a proven system. We parents can discuss these with the school and request them to follow a better system.
Argument can also raised that SJI is new with IB. But you can also refer to the ACS(I) O level and SJI O-level result. Definitely SJI did very good, but compare to the ACS(I), they should have done much better. So what I mean, there are still very good room for improvement for SJI on both O level and IB; and we (parents and school both) should strive for this, help each other and embrace the better / proven system. -
Just want to say that my boy is very happy at SJI. He could have gone to a school based gifted programme but we picked SJI because of the calibre of the boys they produce.
We as parents have been very impressed with all the seniors so far. They are polite and greet everyone they meet. C also told us that they took very good care of him on orientation day and to date. Definitely not robotic or lifeless and, definitely more passionate, warm and polite than many other IP schools. The two boys we met at the open house were sec 1 boys, and not upper sec boys who helmed the fort.
At a tryout this week, another boy snatched C's equipment and the seniors immediately ran over to tell the bully to return the items, I
think that says a lot of them and their culture. He comes back everyday with stories of how the seniors really look after them juniors so it's really a great deal to us.
As for school comparisons, it's not fair to compare an apple to a grape. Both are nutritious in different ways so we have to learn to use the nutrients to enable our body to grown. If you wanted an apple, then why pick something else? At the end of the day, every parent have dreams for our children. Some can be realized, but some can't. Now that the boys are posted to SJI, make the most out of it. It will not be the stellar result producing school like RI but it will make a gentleman out of a boy. Ora et Labora! -

ACSI did very well and they have been doing very well in both IB and Olevels results. This is a fact, no need to argue. I hope you already did the comparisons before you send your son to SJI.
There is always room for improvement (maybe except for the :rahrah: \"perfect\" school).
However, very few percentage of SJI parents visit this site. You will reach the right and more parents/school, by bringing your constructive suggestion(s) directly to SJI and SJI Parents' Support Group.
Here on a public internet forum, your suggestions will reach very few people who has actual stakes in SJI's interest.
By the way, hope that Parents 1/2/3 will also feedback to SJI. It would be a shame to churn out robots, regardless of their academic results. -

Heard the Sec 1 had seen their results & only about 38% (DS told me) meet the promotion criteria of obtaining 60% for all the subjects. :imdrowning: Anyone know what does MSG stands for in the result slip?
