Thanks for the info, Pinkamoon. In sg, seems like son-rise program is not easily found…can’t imagine flying to US to get training haha… your hb and you are decisive to just do that!

My hb and I felt that our boy’s condition has improved significantly through the KKH OT sessions. Although it was just 4 sessions, the therapist had given simple tips for parents to adopt which helped our boy’s behaviour. Now that have to wait so much longer to get to Rainbow centre, we aren’t sure of what to do in the meantime to help our boy further.

Diet wise, we just ensure he eat more home-cooked food (to try exclude gluten) and took out cow’s milk completely. Not too sure if the improvement in his condition is due to diet or us spending more time with him, doing things he likes and letting him take the lead. Now the priority is to get him to talk. What sorta games do you play with him btw?

If no need speech therapist will be good, can save $$. hehe

        Hi Poohbear85,

http://embraceautism.sg/ is the Singapore sonrise webpage. Some parents practicising Sonrise in Singapore founded this group and they do sharing. Please check it out.

The games played are designed around what your child likes. We want to be their best friends so that we have so much to talk about. In short, play what he wants. 😄

He's only 4 years old and the schools expect him to be toilet trained? Childcare is more receptive to this. Ok, all kids walk around when they are this age. So don't let the teachers convince you that it's a problem. You will just have to find a nurturing childcare that will be loving towards him. A loving environment goes a long way to helping him.

I also had to withdraw my boy when he was 4 years old from a kindergarten due to similar reasons like yours. They wanted to demote him to pre-nursery. Thankfully, I managed to find a nurturing childcare. When I asked if not being toilet trained is a problem, they said no, just leave it to them. They toilet trained him!

He still walks around at p5 (according to his classmate) but it hasn't caused much distress to the classmates or the teachers.

Hope you manage to find a nurturing school with loving teachers.

                Hi NLA2310,

There are a number of places like

                1. Kits4Kids
                2. Divinity Especial Needs Intervention Centre
                3. St. Clare School for special Education
                4. St Gérard’s School

I have not engaged their services before so maybe others can give u their reviews.

                  Hi NLA2310,

I had visited iciban nurtureland before and it is relatively alright in general and the fee is quite reasonable. What is your concern? Do you like what you see? I also know a parent whose daughter is in this school since N2. The reason why I never let my son join this school is because the journey is too long (20mins car drive). It is good to let your son get intervention while waiting for govt eipic.
