supposed to coach daughter in science topic on living things and their environment...but worried if she can remember topics taught earlier...in the end didn't start anything new last week. for science, she can't remember by listening to the teacher...she can only remember by doing revision after that...through questions, she will learn what has been taught...very much a visual person.

Problem with my dd is that even if she knows the method, theory and concepts, when the question is worded a different way or is twisted and asked in a different manner, she'd be stumped 🀷
So I guess she will improve by exposing her to more varieties of questions. Trouble is where got so much time?! 😒

        What is Nets?

        it's some 3 dimensional thing.

        6 GEOMETRY
        Geometrical figures
Include finding unknown angles in geometrical figures involving
square , rectangle, parallelogram, rhombus, trapezium and triangle.
        Nets
        Include:
Β· 2-D representation of cube, cuboid, cone, cylinder, prism and
        pyramid,
Β· identifying nets of the following solids
        βˆ— cube,
        βˆ— cuboid,
        βˆ— prism,
        βˆ— pyramid,
Β· identifying the solid which can be formed by a given net,
Β· making 3-D solids from given nets.
Exclude nets of cylinder and cone[/quote]My dd will have trouble with this. She is not very good with visualising things. I think the boys would be better in this topic generally speaking.

That’s why the general comments are that boys do better in Maths and Science, girls in languages.

actually the question is testing same concept...but once worded differently, my girl will be stumped. is it because boys and girls are wired differently?

i only managed to squeeze in 'web of life' revision...hope πŸ™ SA1 doesn't include adaptations. daughter told me science teacher has been getting class to do MCQ questions in PSLE booklet for homework...there is english daily revision well for editing, synthesis and comprehension, so can hold back on my side.

My dd's school has not covered web of life nor adaptations yet. They have finished forces and are currently doing topic on energy.

forces and energy topics were completed in time for CA1. teacher has completed 'living things in environment' but i have to go through in-depth with her again as she wasn't able to do the questions under that topic. just done with 'rotting leaf community'.
school should be starting with 'food webs/food chain' next week πŸ˜“

That's why the books such as LB and UB Frequently Asked Questions by EPH are useful. Let the kids read through the qns with answers when there aren't a lot of time. πŸ™‚
