Any Updates As To When PSLE T-Scores Will Be Scrapped?

My son takes 5. How about HMT?
ya. until PM Lee had to hold a press conference with NEH and protest was held at Hong Lim Park.
L1R2 isnt directly targeted at MT so dont think it will cause uproar. i think it is quite absurb to hv L1R2 when there are only 4 examinable subjects in pr sch. But if dont use L1R2 , i wonder how to compare results against those with MT exemption for sec sch admission purpose? -

Guess that's what many parents are also hoping for, to see a lighter syllabus, more excursions and fewer tests/exam, smaller student-teacher ratio, happier learning environment etc.
i thought majority of parents hope for a lighter syllabus for pri kids, to have more happi learning culture , true joy of learning, more excursions, less tests/exams etc this type of holistic/ new chg is never in my radar .in fact i was caught by surprise - by the way the authority is adding more ingredients to the not so simple pslelee_yl:
T-score is straight forward, objective and transparent, worked well for us for the past 30 years, albeit with some negative points. Parents complained and asked for something else, what if the new process is now more subjective and opaque? Blame who?
Keep reading published articles & TV interviews etc that state that \"majority of the parents and educators\" interviewed welcome this change (from t-score to banding). Isn't it misleading? Then some heads up there must roll.
Well, parents make noise, they know something is wrong with the current system as stress and competition keep getting higher & higher but they can't really pin point the source of the stress or a viable solution to alleviate the stress. Policy makers try to come out with something. Banding and focus more on holistic/non-academic achievement. Policy paper looks good but will it work? I believe many parents have doubts. -

I expect my kid to get 270++. :siam:
Those parents whose kids are expected to be high scorers would definitely not think that balloting is such a good idea. Conversely those parents whose kids are above average but not right at the top might find the idea of balloting more palatable.zulu:
Are you sure having many p6ers having same score banding and then ended up balloting for schools will be less stressful for kids and parents than the current T-score system? :scratchhead:
In future, even if the kid score well and have good results, the family will still have to worry about his / her luck in getting into whichever school they want (can be distance, school culture, etc.) :nailbite:
:rotflmao:
270++ and 250 same band, ballot loh :frustrated: -

Mabbe moe oredi gave up trying to reduce stress coz they know it's a losing battle (can't take the kiasu-ness out of a Singaporean parent). :siam:Are you sure having many p6ers having same score banding and then ended up balloting for schools will be less stressful for kids and parents than the current T-score system? :scratchhead:

All they want now is to spread the top talents across many schs so that they don't congregate within a handful of schs. That's one of their objectives right?
Assuming they are practical enough to know that balloting doesn't work well for specialized schs, they may still allow DSA for these schs. In time to come, I foresee schs like SOTA & NUSH to rise in popularity at the expense of traditional powerhouses. -

Yahboi, I doubt parents would welcome the balloting within same band approachAre you sure having many p6ers having same score banding and then ended up balloting for schools will be less stressful for kids and parents than the current T-score system? :scratchhead:

Quote\" I asked them if they would prefer a system where progression to the next level was not based on PSLE, but on random balloting. No one wanted such a system. They all still favoured some form of academic assessment, preferably less stressful than the current PSLE, with progression based on merit.\" -

With all due respect, there is a big gap between a 27x and a 250.
270++ and 250 same band, ballot loh :frustrated:
So now is see whose temple more powderful? -

Or perhaps scrap psle totally. No need to rely on one national exam for placement

And 100% DSA to ALL secondary schools?
1) Would it be more stressful?
Need to ε «δ»θΏζ΅· εζΎη₯ι
2) Or reduce stress?
Since can show multiple years school result. Not all stake on one national exam.
Of course won't have apple to apple comparison since schools have different standard so the ball is with the respective secondary school to select the profile of students they want -

Of course. T-score can still somewhat control - ie. if t-score not ideal so invest in more tuition lor :skeptical: .

Balloting is left to chance. Cannot be gamed. -

Yuh. Incongruent with our poll up there leh. Or maybe they only polled unkiasu parents and educators......

With all the uncertainties surrounding banding and DSA, aren't we glad our kids will be out of the primary school system by the end of this year.

But I do feel for those who will be adversely affected in the latter years. I supposed moe sees these changes on as part of the greater good at a macro level, but individually, the really academic ones among us will lose out.
