Just received an email from NUSH on something called the hybrid flipped classroom methodology(FCM). Could someone whose kid enrolled in this programme PM me? I've some clarifications and prefer to make them privately. Thanks.
Hi, flip classroom is a technique where the students study the topic by themselves and then teach their peers, while the teacher is on hand to help where needed, as opposed to the traditional classroom setting where the teacher teaches and the student listens. For nushigh, the students are split into groups and each group studies a different topic. the groups prepare a presentation each and use that to teach the rest of the class their assigned topic. The teacher makes clarifications where the presentations are not clear, incomplete, or inaccurate. So everyone learns the entire topic in the end. Alternatively, during class time groups may complete a worksheet Using the notes given, before the teacher teaches the topic in class. The teacher will be there to guide and answer questions where the need arises. -

Just for info, the pre-requisites for most courses in NUS require only a min CAP of 2.0 from NUSH Diploma.LoveIsEverything:
B is 3.5 CAP. So far I know there are students who are around 3.0 (B-) CAP and they are still promoted to the next year. Though, I understand they attend remedial classes for subjects they are weak in. The minimum CAP for year 1 to get promoted to year 2 is 2.5 CAP. You can download a pdf on this at
http://www.nushigh.edu.sg/qql/slot/u186 ... .01.02.pdf
Refer to the last 2 pages.

Yes, but that would not guarantee you an acceptance from them

Just an example, for a Bioethics module BL6101 ,
Part 1
students are group into group of 4 and each group will research and make a 15 minutes presentation, 5 minutes Q&A on one of the following topics: Research coverage expectation/ guideline are given.
Head transplant,
3 parent Embryo,
Engineering a Super human,
Surrogacy Controversies,
Genetic Modification using CRISPR,
Cryopreservation.
Part 2
Each group are to research on the conservation of a different given animal and produce a video for presentation. The video has to cover the following issues: There is a limit on the amount of cut and paste allowed.
Features of animal of interest( classification, habitat, ecosystem)
Current Status -why this animal this of concern
threat animal is facing/ creating,
Current conservation strategies,
Habitat Protection,
education / creation of awareness
Each assignment is 45% of the module grade.
Hope this help. -

Hi, my DS is only ok with MO type of questions... but he is quite good in secondary level math..
I would like to know whether only MO type of questions will be tested in the selection test? Are there secondary secondary level non-MO questions as well? And since he is not that good in MO questions, his chance of doing well in the selection test is lower?
Thanks in advance!
:thankyou: -

I don't think it's necessary to use MO type of questions in the selection tests as not all children are exposed to it. I got a feeling Sci may hold more importance in the tests since there are 3 Sci subjects compared to math.Hi, my DS is only ok with MO type of questions... but he is quite good in secondary level math..
