Hi, my DS is only ok with MO type of questions... but he is quite good in secondary level math..

I would like to know whether only MO type of questions will be tested in the selection test? Are there secondary secondary level non-MO questions as well? And since he is not that good in MO questions, his chance of doing well in the selection test is lower?

I don't think it's necessary to use MO type of questions in the selection tests as not all children are exposed to it. I got a feeling Sci may hold more importance in the tests since there are 3 Sci subjects compared to math.

If your kid knows how to tackle some MO questions, he should be able to handle the math section of the DSA test relatively easier (of course non-MO math will also be included). There will probably be basic express-sec 1 math included. For the science section of the test, your kid can study the basics of express-sec 1 sciences. (For example, know what the numbers of a periodic table mean and understand cell biology). He should do fine.

May I know how is the online application considered complete? After ticking "Agree" and printing of the form? P6 SA1 results are released only in late May. Does that mean we can only make payment after including P6 SA1 results?

Hi shriradh, this is a student from NUS High. School in NUS High is pretty advanced compared to any other secondary school. By Y2 we will already be covering topics normally taught in Sec4, so your child should be be prepared to absorb new topics and concepts very fast. Self revision is very important, due to the fast pace in teaching. Your child will be taught all 3 sciences, since day one, plus math, and the other usual subjects like mothertougue, english, etc. Days in are longer than usual, with CCA days ending at 6, and usual days ending at 2+, depending on your class, and year, so do take note of that.

But don't expect your child to become nerds, and don't expect NUS High to be full of nerds XD. Every 2 years we are shuffled around among our level-mates according to the humanities taken (for Y2 to Y3), or according to the majors selected (from Y4 to Y5).

But most importantly of all, make sure your child is very sure she wants to be in this school. She will burn-out and lose interest in science through the rigorous training here if she is reluctant to come here in the first place. Best of luck for your admission!

Can i chk whether if the child recd admission to NUS High but reject it, ok? One of my nephew wants to go NUS High but not sure whether to apply for DSA or not. He was asking whether he go for DSA but if he is selected, can he reject it? Is it OK?
