What happens if kids don't do well academically at SOTA? Anyone know of the minimum requirements?
To progress from Y1 to Y2, the academic subjects is 50%, art form is 50%.
So sufficient attention should still be given to the non art subjects. -
Dear all,
I know its still far away but will like to get ready. The school teachers are also helping.
My gal is still in P3 this year and she had failed her Chinese since P2 CA2. It had pull down her marks but overall still can get 60%-62%. Will it affect to get into SOTA? Or apply application that time when DSA? She really have the passion and wants to be an artist when grow up. This year she just join the Art Club and was chosen to be 1 out of 3 students to represent the school for Art Competition. If she never win any prizes, can I indicate in the DSA application form?
Please help -
Cool thanks. And did your child get accepted after the WL?

I would put in all participation in relevant contests / exhibition, even if no prize won.
Exposure is a good add to the application.
If her P5/6 results is promising overall, it should not discount too much for the application. Note that though CL weightage is v low in PSLE but it can still pull down if it is v bad or the other subjects are not strong enough.
Unless your child is getting exemption for MT, else where possible, try to keep it up. Get help.
P3 CL is much easier vs P4-6 CL.
CL is a must do subject in SOTA, unless exempted. It will still affect her down the road. -

It was a difficult 3 months from WL offer leading up to PSLE.
But we were successful in the posting eventually.
Till now, I'm still thankful!

Hello to parents and students in this forum
I would like some more information on the interview and entrance test for SOTA. My daughter is trying for visual arts DSA this year. -
You need to look at the website for admission details. The online application along with her art portfolio (8-10 pieces), sketch drawings (5-8) and certificates if any, P5 exam results, child and parents ID docs etc all need to be submitted by 20 May.

Thanks for the reply pinchmycheeks (cute name
). My daughter has already been shortlisted for the talent academy. So I am looking for some more personal experiences so that I can guide her. Appreciate all the help that we can get. -
