Janet, only 3 days break? You're really a slave driver.
i don't plan to do practice papers for june...but math from chap 1 and science from lower block. time is very precious next month...in fact right after SA1. plan to give her 3 days rest and then we go full throttle.mn_1704:
Agreed...month of June is for effective revision on content and practise papers...otherwise once school reopens, not much time left...telling myself to remind DS that time is not on our side. Must make the best out of it.
My son negotiated with me for break from end of SA1 till end June. We striked a bargain that at least he has to do some light revision in later part of June.
I'm wary of burnt-out. I mean even we adults if work every day just for a week will also get mentally numb right, let alone the children. -
Irabbit,
My daughter is unlike your son. She is academically weak and forgetful. June is the last 1 month long holiday before prelims and PSLE. How can 4 hours everyday be considered heavy?
Hubby is teaching her the topic on ‘environment’…literally from scratch because heavy load of homework daily basically doesn’t allow us to do anything. -
janet88:
But you wrote go full throttle. Full throttle to me is not 4 hours per day, more like 8-10 hrs. That's going full throttle. 4 hrs per day is considered moderate revision. Mabbe we have different definitions.Irabbit,

So full throttle is 8 hours...then maybe we do have different definitions.

4 hours everyday...2 hours every morning and 2 every night is reasonable. If I can pack in 6 hours everyday, then we would be able to finish revision faster...prelims in term 3 week 9. -

I agree with both....depends a lot on our DC's intake and retention of the info and revision. Their stamina. My DS gets bored rather quickly....need to give him short 5/10min breaks in between...otherwise...
I try and hope to have a consistent study/revision and practise papers...a mixture of these on a weekly basis...
Hopefully the school teachers do not pile high on our DC with tons of homework...at least to allow the children some time at home to read up their revision notes. -

consistent revision is a must...but cannot pile on more than 5 hours everyday or else it will backfire if she gets burnt out. i don't plan to give her any work on my side before prelims as her school will pile the students with past year papers...just like mid year.

My DS has 4 days of School supplementary classes during the June holidays. My guess is that the teachers will run through the topics and most probably Homework or Paper Exercises will be issued to the children.... -
Daughter has 2 days in June, 2 days in sep…first 2 days of holidays.
Gave her time out on those days when she has supplementary. we need time for ice cream. -

Yes...very true. Plan to catch a movie after DS's SA1 and Les Miserable in June. -

Ya lah, better not to get burn out now.Daughter has 2 days in June, 2 days in sep...first 2 days of holidays.

Will do revision with dd everyday on her weaker topics but must have some breather also. Once Term 3 starts, it'll be worse than crazy. The teachers will all be piling them up and no time to do revision at home. Poor dears...
