Dear All, I will recommend Dstar BASC, my son attended this ctr before and I can say that this is a good environment ctr among other ctrs in Jurong area, they provide at least proper meal for the kids, good tuition and good holiday excursion planning by their ctr's owner (if I'm not wrong their ctr's owner is Sharon).
Thanks for the recommendation, mintpapa. Glad that I saw your post.
Visited Dstar today and indeed felt pretty comfortable with the environment. Sharon was around and had a nice chat with her. Very friendly and shared with me quite a bit about their teachers, food, programs and her philosophy of education. She mentioned that they may renovate the centre this year.
Have enrolled my little pretty at Dstar for P1 next year. Was quite unsure initially as there are a few centres around the area.
Hi Lynd,
your kid is now at Dstar? Can you share with me your view? I am looking for one center for my gal next year... Any other student care center nearby which is also well recommended? Thanks. :rahrah: -
Hi ruhuasee,
My girl is coping well at dstar. She likes the environment there and we don’t really hv to worry about her homework and spelling as the teachers there do guide her on these. She likes the food there as well which is a plus. As a parent, so far I’m happy with their service as they are responsible and the staff are friendly. Centre is pretty new and very spacious as they split the students into 2 centres next to each other. Also, they hv a decent dining area. You may consider. Good luck in your search ya. -

Not sure which to pick between Dstar or Brilliant... Dstar has better quality in terms of environment, programme and the teachers but it's quite a distance from my place (jurong west st 61) plus they do not provide any transport service. On the other hand, Brilliant is nearer ( block 838 ) and they are providing dual way transport ( from school to student care center with no additional charge - from student care centre to home at additional charge), and the center operating hours is up to 8pm. It would be benefit parents which do not possess own transport and working late since I have allowance of another 1 hour to pick up my kid. The only thing bother me is not sure how's their teacher qualification because I notices quite a numbers of helpers there are secondary school students ( not sure is helper or teacher). Anyone can share the experience with Brilliant?
Hi erin29, your kid is in which student care now? I am looking for one for my kid next year, not sure which to choose also... can you share your view of the student care your kid is with? Thanks! :rahrah: -

My kid is going p1 next year so went round shopping for an after school care. My priority is environment and teachers. Dstar is also my final choice because it fulfils my requirements. Thanks for the recommendations.

Hi oxr,
your kid is with Dstar? Can you share with me about the teachers there? Well qualified? My friend visited the center and told me all their chairs are stool... without backrest... -

Hi parents, I visited the Pro-Teach at Blk 519 at 2pm. I found the students were eager to do their homework after their lunch.
-
I visited Pro-teach at Blk 519 too after browsing thru the comments here. But was quite disappointed with the environment.
Was greeted with two rows of kids sitting along the corner door when i opened the door. Out of curiosity, I asked the teacher why are they sitting there? She replied that the kids are taking a break from their lessons. ( In my heart, i was thinking what! no place for them to even move around? ) Ok never mind, don’t judge so quickly… so i asked the teacher to bring me around the school.
She showed me to their classrooms. Both the classrooms were filled with 4 , 5 rows of tables with little space to move around.
The chinese teacher in one of the classroom was combing her hair when i looked in.
We proceed to upstairs to take a look at their eating area and bathing area.
Upon reaching upstairs, the smell of the mee pok that a boy was eating hit me… there is not much air ventilation at all.
The teacher continued to explain to me that a auntie will do all the cooking for the kids.
As there is only one toilet upstairs, all the kids ( boys/girls ) got to share the same toilet to shower.
I was quite turn off by then.
My conclusion about this student care is poor air ventilation… there is also a stench smell which makes me feel sick ( i was wondering how the kids tahan ).
Although it was my first choice on my list because they provide tuition classes, i don’t think i feel good to leave my son in such a unhealthy environment.
So parents, please do drop by the student care of your choice to make sure that it is a good choice for your kids. -
