Hci was not our choice then as we didn't expect him to score so well.. Hence we din even go to the open house.. We just visited hci two days before sch selection, impressed with the well mannerism of the students there and chose it

Is Hwa Chong Institution different from HC International ?In what ways ??

Hci is IP programme, hci international is IB programme. The school fees difference between the two is very huge !

Ds is in Year 3 now, went in via PSLE T-score. Did not try DSA to HCI.
I have been happy with his growth as a person, both academically and otherwise, in HCI, and even more so after yesterday's Student Led Forum (SLF). HCI doesn't have the traditional parent-teacher meet; instead they have the SLF where the boy will present on what he has learnt, gained, and goals, targets etc for the future.
My son is not a top student in HCI, he is just average, but I am so pleased to see that the school is invested in his growth as a person, and not just academics. I learnt that his CCA teacher and Form Teacher have been discussing his potential for leadership in CCA, and that as a school, they generally are not too worried if you aren't topping your class as they believe the boys will rise to the occasion when necessary (usually in Sec 4) to proceed to go on to do well in JC.
This really resounds with me - that the secondary school years aren't just about academics , but also building confidence, leadership, and most importantly, the holistic development of the child as a person, not just one that will do well in academics. I was thoroughly impressed when his FT said that HCI really wants every boy to be happy in school - that's such a wonderful thing to say, isn't it?
Anyway.. if there is one thing you should know or that might factor in your decision, is that HCI requires their boys to get a minimum of B4 for HCL before they can drop it in JC1. I think other non-SAP schools (not sure about other SAP IP schools like DHS) only require you to pass it (i.e. get D7) to drop it in year 5. That said.. my son's chinese has never been better haha. He even did better for HCL than ELL this term!

HC International is meant for international students; don't need PSLE to get in for foreign students. Is a 'private' school
some parents send their kids there to be in Hwa Chong instead of lower ranked secondary schools that the kids qualify within the S1 posting criteria -

HCI IP is an independent school, their fees are also higher than the govt IP schools although it's still cheaper than the HCI International Section. -

No idea about IB school fees. Only know itβs very high, perhaps can call Gen office to check.
