2016 PSLE Discussions (Born in 2004)

Last week of school holidays. Kids complaining having to wake up early and facing school homework when term 3 begins. Daughter has been very cooperative 1 week after SA1 exams ended...we started revising and will complete the remaining Math and Science topics next week :rahrah:

When term 3 begins, we will continue with bite size revision.

Actually I have done up a nice revision timetable for my boy. But disrupted by the tonnes of homework given by the school during the holiday. Can hardly squeeze in my own revision with him

i planned weekly schedule up till september. for june, i planned to start revision from scratch and was so worried she would be piled with loads of holiday homework too. fortunately she only had 2 sets of past year papers for each subject. when term 3 begins, i don't think i can schedule anything on weekdays...but still hoping to use youth day and the public holiday next month to brush up her math.

I outsourced the revision to dd’s tutors but I monitor closely to make sure that she completed the work with effort.

for math tuition homework, hubby will sit beside her as the questions tend to be challenging. however, i still get her to revise every topic especially the 'heavy' ones. her school teacher is very thorough, so i am not so worried.

Yeah mine had tonnes of school homework but he's quite smart...when I ask him to write a compo for me he'll ask me very sweetly if he can just write the one his English/MTL teacher had given as homework. Somehow I always cave in and let him do it

With the June hols almost over, I've just realised that I have hardly done what I wanted to with him (in terms of revision). A part of me is happy that he had a break but the other part is anxious that he may not have done enough.

The June hols is when many kids really get down to it. Their hard work will often be seen in the prelim exam and PSLE results...suddenly you will see some kids go from average to good or good to excellent. These are the ones who have paced themselves right.

The big picture is PSLE. There are 2 holidays in July..Youth Day and Hari Raya.

2. Time to prep the DSA application forms
3. Time to prep for GAT
4. Time for training
5. Time for play and excursions

Now time to nudge her a bit to be more "on" about the PSLE. Crossing fingers she can maintain that SA1 performance…till PSLE…Jiayouz!
