May want give River Valley Pri a shot due to proximity but my son is guaranteed (I think) a place in Henry Park, as I am an old boy there.

Have never been lucky at lucky draws... So not sure if I should risk going for balloting

thanks chief for the information. how then do we know which are the SAP schools? and do all other schools that are not listed as SAP schools automatically offer HMT in P4? are there schools that do not offer HMT at all, whether P1 or otherwise?
Hi ImMeeMee, only SAP Primary Schools offer Higher Chinese (aka. Higher Mother Tongue or HMT) from Primary 1 onwards. Such schools also offer the \"Bicep\" programme to students who get Band 1 for Higher Chinese at the end of P3. In non-SAP schools, good performing students are put in classes for HMT sometime starting Primary 4. They will take HMT for PSLE along with everyone else in SAP schools at Primary 6.ImMeeMee:
...heard that some pri schools offer higher chinese and some dont. what is the implication on this? does it mean that students who do not take higher chinese are not able to enrol in certain secondary schools? or it is that they would not be able to take higher chinese in secondary school, but they can still enrol in whatever secondary school where they aggregate allows.
and when do they start higher chinese? in P1 or P4?
thanks for enlightening.
Having HMT early is definitely a boon for students aspiring to take HMT at the Secondary level. However, it still depends on the quality of the PSLE passes before one is offered that option in Secondary schools.
sorry if this has been a mouthful. -

The SAP schools are listed in our Singapore Primary School Finder found here:
http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/top_primary_schools?filter1%5B%5D=92
All of them are flagged on the map. For more discussions on SAP schools, go to this http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=382. -

Chong Fu is a good school under the SHHK. However, you should stay within 1km of the school, otherwise slim chance.
Lucky & hquek
HI... thanks for the enlightment
i actually stay slightly more than 1km from CF so wat do u think? Is NorthLand good? My worry abt PeiChun at ToaPayoh is i m staying at Yishun. the distance lo.....
:stupid: anyone can recommend me a good Childcare at north area? my son in K2 and the CC now almost all the teacher is on maturnity.... So worried

hi Artist
I canβt remember if you qualify for phase 2B for ChongFu. If so, between 1-2km still stand a very good chance. If itβs phase 2C, there is balloting within 1km for the past few years so you may not even have a chance to ballot.
Northland has very good reviews and is a very popular school in the North. However, I think there is also balloting every year for less than 1km in phase 2C.
For childcare, the Little skool house at Orchid Country Club is quite good. The surroundings are quiet and serene. You may want to take a look.
Good luck ! -

based on previous years' trends it appears that Chongfu has had balloting for <1km even in Phase IIb.
so i have always thought that those 1-2km do not stand a good chance in Phase IIb. we are keen on chongfu and may have a chance to get into Phase IIb but we stay about 1.9km from it. so i have always thought our chances are slim.
what do you think? -
Wat do u mean that u have a chance in Phase 2B ? via PV or Clan ?
I think u wait until the school registration exercise start and see how many vacancies are available this year.
U can prob wait till the last day of phase 2B to see your chances. Can call up the school to find out on the last day of phase 2B registration. -
we are trying to get into SHHK. after that we have to try hard to attend their activities to qualify for their recommendation letter.
that's why the 'may get into Phase IIb'. and that's why we need to be surer of our chances of getting into Chongfu after doing all the above.
BTW i am enquiring for 2010 P1 registration for 2011 intake ... sorry for being KIASU!!!
haha that's why we are here.
-
OIC, if you are selected, SHHK will prob inform you soon as they have 2 intake a year.
You may get a chance to get the recommendation letter from Huay Kuan as I see that there are more members opting for Ai Tong/Tao Nan/Nanchiau than CF, so their demand is not as great as the rest of the schools.
See u in Huay Kuan if u become a member !
