hi all,
can i ask a technical qn here?
say i am living in GRC A, RC A - exe. member for 5 years.
i shift house to GRC B in 6 months time, (Dec 2016)
successfully transferred to RC B - exe. member
for the next 1.5 years, i happy happy, continue doing what i always did, in GRC B.
(Jan 2017- June 2018)
come MOE P1 registration, will the adviser of GRC B sign my form for Phase 2B?
(June 2018)
Do you all have any real examples of success or failure cases?
SK
I think better check with your CD on this. From what I know, the length of service continue when you shift to another area, and adviser usually will endorse based on CD recommendation. As long as you fulfill the PA criteria of 2 years service and have clocked achievements in both RCs, I don't see a reason why the adviser of GRC B won't sign. -

Have done 1 case. Your service length will carry over, so u will qualify for the priority letter.
The issue will only be tricky if you had to apply for the letter when u are still a observer again at the new RC/NC. So please flag this concern in the beginning to your CM or Chairman. -
Redamber:
Can I check, with the new 2 year ruling for grassroot work together with the ambiguity on when the work is actually accountable (eg. being an observer for xx amount of time), is it still worth doing it?
Your length of service will only start to count when you are confirmed as an executive member.
As for amount of time that you will be an \"observer\", it will really depends on how actively you are. There are some cases where the RC has max out the quota for executive members, then the observer will have to spend a longer time \"observing\".
I think it's important to clarify the commitment of volunteering here. Being a executive member will not guarantee you the letter for P1 priority. The point is the privilege is a reward for deserving members who have actively contributed their time and effort in helping out the activities of their RC/NC/CCC.
Sure you will sacrifice of some time for your family but there are intangible gains and satisfaction from your volunteering. You may make friends and enjoy closer relationship with your neighbours, your children find pride/respect that you are building a better community for yourself and their future. So you have to decide for yourself if this commitment is worthwhile. -
thanks to all.
ya, spoke to CD and ex-CD (Cos i more gam with ex-CD)
thats my concern too… imagine joining RC B, then 6 months later ask Adviser sign my form, i ask also pai seh.
but currently, i am getting the CD to contact my future CD to explain the situation upfront and see how it goes.
i know, it all boils down to you help me, i help you type of arrangement.
too bad, my current adviser is new (i more gam to the previous adviser), if not, i think its just a matter of a few telephone calls/ emails. -
thanks a lot.

No problem.
In your case, have u discuss wrt \"going by the Associate Member route\"? Unless... unless.. the school u are interested in not in area where u serve  -

I thought only EM get the priority, and AM don't qualify for the fringe benefits? :scratchhead:skii:

It depends on situation. There was someone who mentioned he/she got the letter in this thread. And I know of another, but must make sure approval is in black and white :nailbite: -
If AM can also get the letter of endorsement, wouldn’t it open the floodgates for parents to volunteer in the GRC with good schools instead of where they reside?
