So if no call or anything, the safest is to check MOE's website regarding which schools need balloting? Paiseh, but I dunno their standard practice...

Hi, yes, the schools which are balloting, and the distance which requires balloting, will be out later today. If you do not have to ballot, you are in.

I guess the approach should be this:

          - Not all schools call parents. Don't get overly worried if you don't get a call if you're comfortable with your chances.
          - Just hang in there until either MOE updates its balloting website so you'll know if you need to ballot or when the results are announced on 3 August.

In the meantime, keep yourself busy šŸ™‚ (Go to work, go to the gym, go for a run, play World of Warcraft etc.)

I'm curious - do all schools call parents to let them know that their child has secured a spot in 2C?

It depends on the school I guess. For SAJS, they specifically said that if the child needs to ballot for a spot, they will call. If you don't receive a call, you're in. No news is good news. As with most people, I prefer my result to be communicated positively, regardless of the outcome, though I understand the rationale.

                Agreed.

However some schools may have considered it is better to have the definitive list of students after balloting first, before making contact with the parents through some means.

Thanks Techno! I'm trying to keep myself busy and distract myself from refreshing the website. Haha!

I think schools are reluctant to make phone calls unless and until everything is 100% locked in & confirmed. I'm sure there'll be a storm if they call a parent and then later have to convey that it was a mistake. Knowing how crazy parents are (yes, that means you and me and all of us), it may be better to let MOE make the official announcements šŸ™‚

Hey … there is an email sent to parents to inform them on whether balloting is required. So in the meantime, do look out for new emails in your mailbox.
