Those who join in year 3 have to take bridging courses in sem 1 to close the gap. Btw, quite a number are ASEAN scholars.

These scholars raise the standard further in the already competitive environment from year 3 onwards.

Even the teacher asked the year 2's to brace themselves for increased competition from year 3. 😄

Each batch, roughly how many ASEAN scholars likely to enter NUS High, via DSA in Y3 ?

These Y3 scholars : majority, come from which ASEAN country ?
Malaysia, Vietnam etc.
Will representing school in code express competition organised by IDA help in profile?

I doubt it. They will probably want to test the applicant's coding skills on the spot , instead of basing it on past competitions.

BTW, having some coding skill before entering NUSH is a strong advantage to have, because computer science is now compulsory subject at NUSH.

And this subject is the most time consuming. 😓

can name which programming language likely to test P6 students coding, on the spot ?

may pm me. Thanks, very much.
Not sure about the coding test for entrance.
But at NUSH, so far my son has learnt Python, C++, C# and Java.

Hi all, I'm new to this forum.. I'm a very laid back mum.. I'm sure many of your kids here are trying to enrol your kids to NUSH.. can share any particular reasons?

My son was offered a place in NUSH during the 1st wk of Jan this yr.. but he's undecided to accept the sch.. cos its pretty far from our home..

I know NUSH curriculum is diff from the mainstream sec sch.. is it true that the kids can get exempted from 1st yr of uni since its a direct 6 yrs diploma? what other benefits are there in NUSH compared to normal sec sch?

            TIA mummies..
            Hello! Welcome to the forum.

For my batch, students do not get exemption just because they graduated from NUSH. Selected students can opt to take NUS modules while they are studying in NUSH, and the NUS modules that they have taken can be counted towards their degree if they choose to go to NUS in the future.

NUSH is entirely science stream, with the curriculum accelerated in the math and sciences while not neglecting the other subjects. For a student who is already into science, I think NUSH allow the best to better achieve their potential as they are unshackled from the need to prepare for the national examinations.

You can also look at previous posts for inputs from other parents and students.

Distance is a concern, but most people I know that stays far (I stay in Tampines) got used to it pretty quickly. There's always school bus as an option.

I’m quite sure they don’t take attendance - bringing siblings should be fine. The more the merrier!

Hi, appreciate if anyone could share the transport operators’ contacts to ferry kids to nush in the morning. We stay in the north. Thanks.
