Just retake if you get to choose the better of the 2 grades.

What is the best L1R4 cut off that he has to attain? I believe you have decided which Poly and which course to take?

Can he work hard on his strong subjects n use them for his L1R4?

In my opinion, I feel that it's no point retaking Chinese if your son doesn't have an interest in the subject. The very most he will probably move up to C5 or perhaps stay at same grade C6. I remembered for myself, I retook but the second result is the same as first so it's really a waste of my time.

Unless the school says it's compulsory to retake, I will say don't go for it.
        DPA application unsuccessful.

        The course requires 7 points.

I did tell him the C6 grade is very good because he does not usually do very well for school tests/exams. my concern is spending the time to revise only to get a C5.

Mine is just trying his luck for the retake. Won’t be spending much on CL. Lots of other subjects to save at this point as he’s not academically strong

Janet, since your DS wants to retake, let him do it.

Trust him that he knows what he is doing n I am sure he will try his best. How about a crash tuition for him?

Let him try the re-take if that is what he wants.

Agree that some form of crash tuition may help. There are turnaround tutors and some of them can eork wonders.

It's so encouraging to hear your son have the confidence to try to get a better grade. Do continue to give him the support.

Good Luck to his O levels English Oral tomorrow.
