That, which can be solved by money is NEVER a real issue. The sports people are clear on this.

But to be fair to her, he husband is based in China so I guess she should be there with him. It’s not as if she retired as a single and went back to China to build a career. Even Singaporean women follow their husbands all over the world wherever their work take them.

True Funz, no doubt about it. Li just could not speak English after so many years here. I guess she feels more at home in Beijing somehow. Just my humble opinion.

If Feng Tian Wei marries another compatriot and relocate back to China, than it is bye bye to another foreign talent. Of course I sincerely hope not. I like her better somehow. She looks more sincere.

And looking at how things are going for our golden boy Schooling, there is a possibility that he may not return to Singapore eventually.

We cannot expect them to represent Singapore when they are active in that sport and still insist that they remain in Singapore after they retire if they do have better prospects elsewhere.

Ang Peng Siong did NS. He mentioned exceptionally gruelling exercises.

JS is only 21. After the 2020 Olympics, he will only be 25. If he has to do NS, that will mean he is out of action for a good 2 years, which translates to starting all over again when he is done.

It's no big deal and never an issue where they want to reside after they retired from the spotlight. Singapore's original golden girl Junie Sng has also \"retired\" to Oz.

How many has spent their life chasing for that Olympic Gold and never get it?

Lee Chong Wei for sure is one of them. Guess the efforts he has put in is not much lesser than Joseph or anyone else.

He is one of the athetes that I admired a lot. Hope he continues his badminton career and one day, one of his students can help him achieve that Olympic Gold.

It's probably not the exceptionally grueling exercises that's the issue. Problem is athletes uses different muscle group (depending on their sport / discipline) and NS training may not be relevant. As a result, the core muscle group essential for their sport / discipline may weaken during NS, while cardio fitness remain at a competitive level. May take them a long while to train back to pre-NS level (adding more months or years to the timeline).

Yup it should not even be an issue in the first place. Be they local bred and born or imported sports talent.
