Thanks CatMoon and kchairenn. I have this link as well but the problem is there seems to be so many different Chinese! I am not sure do I look at Chinese 1160 or Chinese (revised) 1162?

The teacher has not replied me yet, probably due to sch hols.

For school candidates, they should be taking the 1160 exam.

        1160 is the revised syllabus.
1162 is only for private candidates.

Thanks Lego! Oral and LC is already in Jul but ds school has done almost nothing to prepare them. Just one lesson to go through the format and a few examples. Can I check is the Oral guide some of the mommies were referring to for CL called 囗试精编published by MC? TIA!

Hi anyone can recommend a Chinese tutor or tuition centre for secondary level ?

My son, who is in Sec 1 this year, goes for chinese tuition at a tuition chain in North East, but still fail by a few marks. I find this tuition centre not very professional as when we signed up, the class was taught by the centre’s vice principal, however, halfway they change the teacher and did not even inform the parents. I only learnt it from my son. He has been attending for almost a year now and really not much improvement.

                Hi parents,

I am a Year 4 student from RGS who chanced across this thread, and would hence like to recommend my Chinese tutor whom I had been under for the past 5 years. She is very patient and I really like her teaching style, because she will cater her lessons in accordance to the students requirements.

She conduct lessons both in small groups of maximum 6 (at her apartment) during the weekdays, and in larger groups during the weekends. I am not sure of the size during the weekends, but I heard that there was one class with a group of 8 students. Larger groups are held at the CC.

I posted this because I am very grateful for her teaching in the past 5 years. She had helped me and my friends improve tremendously for our Chinese, and most importantly sparked our interest in the language. Under her patient guidance, I have maintained a Chinese GPA of 4.0 for the 4 years I had been in Secondary school, and also attained A* during PSLE. I am even currently in the Higher Chinese Raffles Academy program, all thanks to her. My friends had improved tremendously as well. New students saw their Chinese improve from failing constantly to passing with a decent grade point of 3.2 within 3 months of intense practice.

For more information, you might want to contact her directly at 96668098. Her name is Mdm Huang Jinlan(Huang Laoshi).

My dd has been with Han Language at Katong 112. She has been there for 2 years and so far, no complaints. Think her class consists of students from CCHM, Victoria, etc…[/quote]

Hi, may know is there specific teacher I should look for? My boy will be sec 2 next yr and he’s taking HCL…
                  Thanks!

Hi all. Understand from many parents and students that the changes to the format of the chinese oral exam have been a bit confusing. If you want to check out the new oral video formats, you can click on http://myflyingcolours.com/. They have samples for tamil and malay oral videos as well.

                        Thanks and hope it helps.
