Sadly, my kids' piano tr is all packed back-to-back with lessons. I whatsapp and called a few times and literally have to \"beg\" her to accept my kids. But she rejected me very politely over the phone every time.

I do not know what came into me but one day, I just brought both kids to her studio. But as her lessons are back to back, we ended up sitting in a corner of her studio for more than 3 hours. Luckily, a student was late for about 5-10 minutes and we managed to jump in and speak to her. She asked my kids to play a song each for her - guess what, as it is, it was played with poor fingering. But guess our sincerity touched her.. and my girl said after she finished playing \"I know I do not play well, that's why I want to learn from you\"... And I am so glad she just spurts that out... the tr relented and agreed to squeeze in End up I have to bring them for 2 separate sessions as she really have no slots to squeeze then in, one after another. No complaints though.

Haha... Indeed. As parents, we will go all out for our children. I did ask my kids if they want to continue piano after they failed their piano exams. Good thing is they likes piano (afterall they are the ones who asked for piano lessons in the first place) so whatever I did, hopefully is worth it, down the road. Fingers crossed

Got a question. When child passes an exam, do we automatically pay the teacher higher fees for the next grade the next month or wait for instructions from teacher?


We are aware of the charges for different grades. But teacher is still finishing up books from lower grades and hasn’t said anything.

We are aware of the charges for different grades. But teacher is still finishing up books from lower grades and hasn't said anything.

Best way is to check with the teacher. Say for a child in G1, currently learning for G2 exams,
(1) Ex-piano teacher will charge G2 fees as she is indeed learning G2 stuff.
(2) Current piano teacher will charge G1 fees, Grade 2 fees after she passed G2.
So it really depends on the teacher

Nods! Sometimes when you cant really find a right teacher, the only way to go about it I think is to teach our kids to have a good learning attitude. I believe every teacher has their good points and able to impart good skills to our kids. I also hear the other side of the stories from the teachers that the kids nowadays are harder to manage and teach. And sometimes, parents also make things not easy for the teachers due to very high expectations. So as parents, we also need to stand in their shoes to see how to best give a good environment to make this learning relationship work.

My 3 cents of thoughts. Haha.
