I find supermarkets in Singapore too cramped compared to overseas, but we have such high rents that I suppose it can’t be helped. The displays etc are not so nice because of the crowding. I find the over-packaging convenient in the sense that there is less choice (saves time), but also limiting and wasteful in the increased materials used. I recall reading that supermarkets are going that way to reduce wastage as it limits the bruising and "wear and tear" on the fresh produce by people handling them too much, so it reduces food waste. Pros and cons, I guess.

Depends on which is the nearest outlet. Convenience is key. Prefer ntuc finest for the environment. Fine with giant but cannot stand sheng shiong and prime.

sheng siong has an odour which is rather unbearable.

things in cold storage are expensive, so I hardly venture there unless it's for ham. It's either NTUC extra at JEM or finest at zhongshan for me. ntuc fairprice supermarkets are squashy and it's hard to move around.
