KiasuParents.com Upgraded
-
The following are some of the many changes that you will see:
1. Facebook integration. New users would be able to register using their Facebook accounts. Existing users can have the option of linking their Facebook account with their KiasuParents.com account and log in using their Facebook account.
2. Comments on the Portal can be made only with users’ Facebook account. This is to address the problem that we have with spammers.
3. Your PMs will be ported into the PHPBB Forum software completely, allowing you to utilise the full functionality of the Forum software to manage your PMs.
4. Our entire site is now fully mobile responsive, so you can browse and get to your content quickly and comfortably using your smart phones.
5. Our portal content is properly segregated into 4 key categories: Preschool, Primary school, Secondary school and Tertiary, catering to the diverse needs of all parents, and making it easier to find information.
6. A new feature, AskQ (pronounced: Ask-Q) has been added to allow parents and students to ask questions which can then be answered by anyone else in our community. There is no charge involved at all, as we believe that the feature will help and encourage parents to teach their children themselves. AskQ will become a library dispensing reference material for students preparing themselves for examinations.
7. Our Directory of services has been revamped with geolocation to make it easier for parents to locate services near their location. -

For those without FB accounts, we can just carry on?The following are some of the many changes that you will see:

Yes, I prefer to sign in by way of a username and password. However, in respect of point 2, does this mean I will not be able to post any more comments on any of the threads if I do not log in via my FB account?
-
For those w/o FB, does this mean we cant post comments?

Chief, perhaps you can share the extent of the problem with spammers and how FB helps
-
The Facebook login option is exactly that. Just an option. You can carry on to login and post as usual on our Forums without using Facebook if that is what you prefer. However, adding comments on our Portal articles will require you to have a Facebook account.
The reason why we are doing this is to stop spammers from insidiously inserting spam into the comments of our articles. On the average, we get about 5 of these spammers per day. If they use their FB accounts to spam, FB will take action against them.
Spammers used to reek havoc on our Forums, until we put in the 30KP$ requirement to stop them from creating fake accounts and spamming on a daily basis. It seemed to have worked generally for the Forums, but not our Portal articles.
Do let us know if you have any better solution than what we have

Chief
You mentioned one can post as usual w/o FB a/c?
"adding comments on our Portal articles will require you to have a Facebook account"
So make a post and add comments to portal articles are different?
Tks.
