How is the light bulb question Physics? It is asking the students to find the length of one side, no?

From the looks of the question, it is not MO. DD has been taught similar questions (in many variations, could be find how many bulbs or how many intervals or the distance between each bulb, though usually in her papers they are lamp posts) and she did not go for a single MO session and she is in mainstream mixed ability class.

Just because it is light bulb Physics is involved? :scratchhead:

            Thanks, Ninac

At first when I saw the Maths qn on light bulb, I thought it was a Science qn testing students on Light energy (Physics) concept, until I saw the calculations involved, then realised is Maths.

Is quite an \"out of the box\" qn, involving Physics (Science), in a Maths qn.

I guess those questions that uses flower pots for arrangment involves botany. 😂

My DD has no Maths tuition or MO training but found the PSLE papers manageable, so far only the parallelogram stumped her.

I don’t think MOE is pushing parents to go for tuition. It’s only 1 or 2 slightly more challenging questions than the rest and everything has been taught before I believe. In fact, perhaps 2015 was a more challenging paper.

My niece who is not in any "branded" schools has no tuition or enrichment in maths. She was only unable to do 2 questions. So, it is possible to do reasonably well without tuition or enrichment.

However, to be able to solve the tougher questions, one probably need additional help and tuition or enrichment centre is one of the possible sources.

Don't forget to bring extra batteries too... 只怕万一
Good luck to all kids doing their mother tongue papers tomorrow!

Don't think there is time to change batteries. Best to bring 2 sets not only for Chinese E Dic but also calculators.

gd to hear this - if possible i dun intend to let my younger have tuition too .
its ok to have avg 2 or 3 interesting qn to identify the brainy ones ...
ah yo, 2015 qn more tricky n difficult ah :gloomy: poor ds ( but thank goodness, his got star last yr , he did comment that
he dun think he can get 91 lei , prob there were some adjustments )

fyi only, last yr ds thought the MT is really difficult for him , agreed by some classmates, who felt higher MT was more manageable than normal MT papers . And ds sch was \"selected\" to do a MT papers some days after PSLE , (I think this is how seab adj standard n charting the curve)

Re : the light bulbs style of qn, vaguely, i recalled seeing them in abt P4 - they used traffic lights , trees, bushes , lamp post and pots previously . Lately i saw this qn appeared in p1 / p2 heuristics book (in house sch production)
