to list by denomination instead of specific churches.

Catholic - at least one parent needs to have a baptism cert (for Catholic schools only eg. convents, SJIJ, CHS, Maris, HIPS etc)
Methodist - need to get letter from pastor of a recognised methodist church (for Methodist schools only eg. ACS, MGS, Fairfield, Paya Lebar etc)

Take the original copy of the letter / cert to the school during Phase 2B registration. No online applications.

But looking at dragon year babies…wonder whether phase 2B under church membership will suffice…

Depends on which Cat/Met schools you are looking at. To up your chances, the only way is to move within 1km as well.

In response, the lady asked me what was my nationality.

When I replied to her query, she said that she couldn’t tell me if they have any vacancies or not.

It is a sad state of affairs in this world.

I am glad to say that I do not want to send my child to Sanyu school.

It's a private school. Private schools are free to set their recruitment criterias.

They may want a better mix and balance of enthinicity or nationality within the school. As such, the lady (who could well be a clerical worker) would not be able to answer the query over the phone.
