Is VS a very IT savvy kind of learning environment? Like pupils will need to learn with iPad etc.

As far as I know, no. Personally I do hope it stays that way : )

It is IT savvy in the sense that there are e-learning days, and special projects require the use of IT. But making students buy iPads? Nope. And I also hope it stays that way as boys being boys... 😂

Oh that good! If pupils are required to own electronic device... I think it's very difficult to stay focus on studies

Need some advice from parents whose DS are in Victoria IP Programme. DS likes Victoria when he went for the Open House and he applied for it via DSA. I am happy that he has a CO for IP programme from Victoria. However, on the day he went for the interview, he saw 2-3 boys pushing a boy onto the ground, and the boy’s belongings spilled around him. Then they laughed at the boy, before one of them packed his bag, helped him up and left the scene. I didn’t take into heart the incident but because of that, my DS ends up in a dilemma. He then told me much later that Victoria become his second choice and he is unsure if he should choose VS in his DSA School Preference Form.

Ended up I was in a dilemma for a long while before PSLE as well. I do not believe or want a single incident to affect a choice. May I check on the culture of boys in Victoria? Are they generally rowdy (I am quite receptive to that as boys being boys but not physically) or ???

Selection is approaching (24-28 October) so I would like to discuss with DS to make a good choice. He has another WL from an equally good school but the distance is a bit far. So parents whose DS is or was in the Victoria IP Programme, do let me have a feel of your experience of Victoria. Thank you very much.

                      Hi What The,

We are in the same dilemma as well. We stay near the school and do find the boys rowdy but I’m sure the other boys school are the same. ds has to decide btw doing A level or IB dip, to go to a nearby school or travel the distance. Secular or mission school etc.

                        Hi What The,

Sorry to hear about the experience. I do agree that boys can be rowdy. I can share a bit about the culture of boys in VS. The behaviour that you saw would not be acceptable had a teacher been present.

Discipline in the school is strict. Boys are generally good natured and well mannered. It is one of the very few schools where students still address their teachers as Sir and Ma'am. That said, the boys can be arrogant sometimes because they know that they're among the best schools in Singapore.

The support from the seniors was helpful. Each class is assigned peer support leaders and they have been very approachable.

Boys being boys, rowdiness is part and parcel of the culture. DS told me that physical rowdiness is rare but the school takes any incident very seriously.

                        Hope this helps!
